Hi everyone, I am in the process of shopping for an engagement ring and stumbled onto PS (has been a blessing in my research). I am a complete novice at best when it comes to diamond shopping, but some of my restrictions are:
1. Limit of $10K (stone only)
2. Round and best cut possible
3. 1.3-1.5 Carat
4. Eye clean
5. Color G and above, as I've seen a few of my friends proposals and the stone looks completely yellow to me (little exaggeration there). I don't know if its my eyes, but others seem to think they were colorless.

I also dont exactly know what some of those comments on the reports mean, but any help or feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!

Some of my current picks:

I usually don't recommend the virtual selections from WF, bc you don't get any of the awesome upgrade benfits that come from their in house options. I'll do some searching now.

I would suggest this stone.

One of the WF stones you picked is a virtual stone and the other stone is not an ACA, ES, or PS. It will most likely not have any
upgrade policy. Ask WF though.
This is a great one!! Neither of the WF ones you chose has actual images (just sample images) so you are buying blind, which is very risky. This stone is a sure thing.

Edit. One stone you picked has a real pic, but no video, etc. The other has no imagea at all. Both are virtual selection

I’m sorry - I don’t like any of the diamonds that you picked so far.

For Whiteflash ... I would not recommend their Virutual Selection ... these are GIA stones that didn’t make it to Premium Select and they come with none of the WF policy perks. If you’re going to buy from WF, I’d recommend going with an in-house stone so that you get the benefits of this vendor. Also, in respect to cut, I was not able to run these through the HCA calculator because I have to pay, but maybe another PSer can do it, in case you still want to consider these diamonds. My quick assessment is that that angles are not the most complimentary. I think the the cut is better in the second WF stone but the picture of the diamond looks cloudy.

The JA stone is not in house and you are paying premium for their True Hearts collection - and this one doesn’t even show the H&A images. Not AGS, so we have no evidence of light performance. Also, the clarity - personally, I detest black carbon inclusions ... suggestion would be to go down in color and up in clarity. Most people can not appreciate the difference between a D and an F, especially when diamonds are not side-by-side ... so unless you have a cultural/symbolic reason for going with D color, I’d suggest going lower.

Here’s a G Expert Selection - this is in your price range and preferences, and it is AGS graded so you have proven light performance. Expert Selection is ACA near-misses ... this one probably missed because of a greenish area on the ASET image ... but the images still look great. With the one you get the WF trade-up policies. Much better than Virtual Selection! Not sure why it doesn’t have a video - something to ask a sales rep - oh and also it may not be eye-clean, but from the picture, I would think you could barely see the inclusions at 12” - it looks better than the JA stone anyway. Be sure to ask the sales team.

If you are serious about any diamond you see, please be sure to go on live chat or whatever to get the diamond put on hold. Lurkers will buy it while you’re thinking.

Anyway - that would be my pick for you ... but also that was a five minute search ... I can keep looking ...

Just one simple advice, if you want to know whether a diamond is eye clean, ask the vendor.
Since you can always return it you will get an accurate reply here.
