Well, after about 8 or 9 months worth of searching PS for diamond shopping advice and falling in and out of love over and over again, my beloved took the plunge and sourced my transitional cut stone from the wonderful women at JbEG.

She's a beautiful 1.01 carat transitional with a K/VS2 pedigree. At my request  he is commissioning the following JbEG setting, a repro of a an early 1900s buttercup done in platinum with two stones bezeled on either side of the little lady:

Yep, I think she's a gonna be a purdy. The rub of course is that I won't be getting her for probably another six months. Yeah, it's okay though just knowing she's waiting for me is pretty flipping awesome. I've been officially out of the loop since he contacted JbEG on V-day, so the hardest part now is not seeing or knowing what she'll look like. However, that's also exciting because while I picked her out, I've never seen the final product so that makes it a surprise to me.
Thus far I'm thinking for a wedding band a millgrained bezel set eternity with single cuts. Dunno though. Cart before the horse. Need my e-ring first.
Anyway, just wanted to share in the excitement with fellow diamond lovahs.

Stunning! I am in LOVE with that setting.

It's going to be gorgeous! I am a big fan of bezel set side stones...obviously! I hope the next 6 months go fast for you! Can't wait to see the finished product!

:appl: How exciting! I'll keep my fingers that F doesnt wait too long to present it to you!

ooh, beautiful stone and gorgeous setting!!! hope it's not too long :)

Gorgeous stone and setting. Ditto...hope it isn't too long before you get it. :appl:

Thanks for all the well wishes guys!

My one teeny concern is the stone isn't as large as I might have hoped but I think with the halo-esque surround it might make the visual weight of the stone look a bit bigger. I just loved the faceting on this one and it seems the transitionals are a little harder to come by. In any case, as soon as I get her I will post photos :) :)

I think you should tell your guy that he really should give in to you during the return window 'just in case' you don't love it. :naughty: :naughty:

Here's to hoping it comes soon! It looks like a beauty!

(hey I'm not a tradesperson - why did that pop up?)

Luv2Sparkle: you made me laugh. Alas, it's me and not him re: not geting the ring til Fall. Full disclosure is this is my second marriage (or will be) and I'm avoiding certain times of the year. A bit kooky I know, but I'm sort of superstitious.

love love love the faceting on that stone!

Love this stone!!! Come back with ring pics :)!

I love the facet pattern on this tranny, beautiful!

Oh my, I don't know how I missed this - that is beautiful!! The faceting is hypnotic, and the setting is a gorgeous complement  :appl:

I guess we've still got a long wait for handshots though ;(

I LOVE that stone!!! Congrats:)

Beautiful stone!

I love that setting! That design is really going to enhance the size of your stone - setting a diamond in general does that, but when you have a frame around the diamond it gives it that extra bit of beefiness you want.

Can't wait to see the finished ring!

Guys thanks so much for resurrecting my thread and the lovely compliments on my soon to be ring. Sphenequeen you really helped to allay my fears of it looking too small. I know it's never going to look like 2 carats but I still want the finger coverage maxxed out. This complete set was within our budget and I feel like I got the most bling for the buck going with JbEG. And yes, I *still* don't have my ring but I know it's coming!

However, if you want to see it now, there are set photos of it on the JbEG's website in the solitaire photogallery. Alas, my beloved has sworn me off surfing their website til I get my ring.

And yes, my beloved is a doll but as subtle as a bull in china shop -- I think he accidentally let it slip that he purchased my wedding band from the ladies as well -- it's the milgrained eternity they are importing from gay Paris! :)

Your ring turned out just gorgeous...really love the setting with prongs! Do you mind if I copy and paste a few pics, or would you rather not until you get the ring?

Sparkley OEC: Well I'd love that buuuut I have officially never seen the finished ring and my manfriend has respectfully requested I not look at it to preserve some of the surprise element soooo.....I guess we probably shouldn't. However you could post a link (if that's allowed) and people could click through should they wish to see. And thank you SOOOOO much for saying you like it!

Oohhh...sorry. I thought you had seen it on JBEG's site. Can't wait until you share it! 8)

I looked! It is awesome! You have crazy willpower not to look!
