Imagine this. My dear (and very spoiled) friend got, what she calls, "play money" for her birthday. Her husband will rather give her an amount of money instead of buying her a piece himself (which might be clever of him). The budget: around 20'000 USD or so (holy moly!). She is more into contemporary style so won't get an antique or even vintage / preloved piece. But this got me dreaming. What preloved piece would you buy with "play money"?

These are the earrings I would buy if I had some mad money.

They are a "little"above budget but perhaps she can take from another occasion towards these. Divine IMO. Swoon!

Oh my! This would be it!

I'd be snatching up those lightbox 2carat labs like candy.

I don’t even know if this would be physically possible to wear, but could you imagine a pair of oval inside-out hoops comprising of several 2ct stones??

I would make a substantial DBTY necklace because my lobes would be on the floor lol.

You’ve got 20k to spend - why not both ;-) ear support patches to the rescue! And if all fails, you can use those ear-chains that are so ubiquitous in Indian jewelry (just get a custom design to match, haha). Both design varieties (wrapping around ear and hooking into hair) pictured below:

I’d probably buy a ruby

If it has to be pre-loved, I’d upgrade my 2.6+ carat OEC solitaire, to an antique cushion with the entire amount.
Not pre-loved, I’d finish my shopping list of items to complete my fine jewellery collection.
