I know that this topic has been posted before - checked out the prior posts already. Just wondering if anyone has some other ideas on this. My boyfriend and I aquired the most beautiful diamond ever (!!!!) (1.44 ct, G, VS2, ideal cut round) and want to make sure it sits in the most proper & safe setting!

I know that I''ve read that platinum keeps its "white" color forever - but in several stores we''ve been in (and it''s been a lot!) it appears that the platinum almost gets a tarnished nickel color? It still "looks" silver ... but just "old", I guess. We orignially thought platinum would be the way to go (never irodium plate it) but it seems if you want that shiney silver color you have to irodium plate platinum too.

Just any thoughts on this would be appreciated! Thanks!

some people don''t love the patina of platinum but you can always have it buffed to a shine again easily by your jeweler.

I prefer platinum. It does get a patina over time and you can always have it polished back to shiney. WG, you may have to rhodium plate depending on your body chemisty and how it reacts to WG, some people never have any problems, where others have to replate often.
