I recently purchased a platinum ring. I noticed that where the prongs attached to the ring (where it''s welded), it looked a little goldish. I''m wondering if this is right. I thought platinum was white??? After the polish though, it was white.

It sounds like the solder joint where the head was soldered into the ring... Ask the jeweler to repolish it.

so is the soldering not usually done with platinum?

.

anyone?

is the soldering to attach the prongs to the platinum ring usually done with a different metal than platinum?

thanks

I have the same question----looking under the head of my setting, the tip of the post that you can see from the inside of the ring looks yellow.......I was wondering if they used platinum myself---same exact thing on the soulder between the e-ring and band........
