Should I have a shared prong wedding band (like in the pic below) made with platinum or white gold? My engagement ring is a platinum solitaire so I’m inclined to order the band in platinum. But because so little metal will be exposed on the front of the ring, I’m wondering if I should just get the ring in white gold and save a little $. Any input is appreciated. :))

I always go for platinum. I can't be bothered with the constant maintenance on white gold and I don't really like shiny shiny metal. I also like that it is basically inert to most chemical that I can encounter in my job.

Platinum if you can afford it.

I'd go platinum, unless it's too pricey. Also, if you do decide on WG, get the X1 or another alloy that doesn't require rhodium plating.
I love the heft of platinum though... it just feels so expensive! (ummm, because it is I guess.) ;)

Thank you all for the input. I think I will go with the platinum just for the peace of mind (I don't think I would regret the platinum).

A WG band I currently wear now hasn't yellowed after about 2 years of wear, and I don't really encounter chemicals at work. However, I do like the weight of my platinum engagement ring! Is there any other reason to choose PT over WG?

I like platinum too. I like the weight of it. And its long term consistency. It doesn’t need polishing or plating. I have a 1.5 ish carat full eternity/shared prong band in platinum- just clean it and go! It looks great and wears well. I also like how platinum goes with other metals.
