I am planning on setting a Jubilee 1 ct. stone on an eternity band with split shanks from Good Old Gold but Jonathon told me it would have to be custom made because of the shape of the stone. I figured since it would have to be custom made i wanted to add another ring of melees (very tiny tiny ones) under and around the stone''s girdle. For clarification, I added a picture to show what I''m talking about.

I am just wondering if it is worth the trouble adding these little ones in the shank. What do you think?

Thanks so much to the PS community...a wealth of information can be found here, and I find myself becoming more and more obsessed with diamonds. Surely this is contagious.

I looove jubilee diamonds and the eternity setting will look awesome. Diamonds in the basket is a neat idea, but because the head is more exposed, those diamonds have a greater chance of being knocked out accidentally (hit on the table, door, etc). The stone itself has so much sparkle, along with the eternity band, I don''t think a pave basket will add that much more flash.

~~Maybe something like this?? This ring is from Good Old Gold... Here is a link to the thread w/ pics

Oh wow, bing diva!! Your friend''s ring is absolutely gorgeous!! I like your better though. After reading that split shanks make fingers look pudgy...I might stay away from them. I think it looks great with the Jubilee cut, but not at the cost of making my fingers look awful ;) Still undecided. I probably should just try the different styles on...hmm...

I have been coveting this Ritani setting and the row of pave on the basket is one of my favorite things about the ring! It gives the ring a very unique, beautiful side view and you''ll probably be looking at it a lot from the side when it''s on your hand. I can''t speak to the durability of having pave stones there but in general it sounds like people have been having problems with pave stones falling out due to various reasons, it is definitely something to consider if you are looking at pave settings.

The pictures are beautiful. More beautiful than I imagined. I had no idea something like this existed. I am new to PS and only knew of sites such as whiteflash, gog and james allen. Anyway, this takes my breath away!! I want my ring to look like this with a jubilee center stone and melees all around the band. I don''t like that the diamonds just sort of stop leaving a few inches with plain gold. I like the way the diamonds wrap the band ;) Thanks for the pix!

~~I believe that the gap in the back of the band (the part where the diamonds stop) is for sizing, but you could get it in a full eternity...

I''m new to PS too and glad to be able to help

I saw that Ritani ring at Bailey, Banks and Biddle so if there is one near you, you can go check it out and try it on to see if you like the pave on the basket. I also wanted a true eternity band with the diamonds all the way around and the salesman said he could probably order it like that for me. I''m sure GOG will be able to do that on your custom ring as well.

Do you guys know why there are small holes on the inside of the band? Is that just the way pave is set? I remember asking the sales guy at BB&B but he said he honestly didn''t know.

Hmm...that is a good idea!! Not that I plan on gaining any more weight! I am the mom of two babies...my daughter is 2 and my son is 5months and I hope I am done with gaining any more baby fat ;(

The reason I like the eternity is so that whenever I get bored of the stone, I can always turn it around so it seems like I have a diamond eternity band, ha ha ha!! well truth be told, i want to be able to control how much bling i have on depending on where I am in nyc.

Also, are those chinese characters on your friend''s wedding band?? I like!!! I just have a plain 2.5mm platinum wedding band that I got half a year ago because I outgrew both my wedding band and engagement ring when I had my second child. I don''t want to mess with either one because its sacred ;o) so my hubby is getting me a whole new set ;) but i really dont want to spend too too much because having kids really makes me think twice about where the money is spent. I would rather put the money in their savings for college, or take vacations with them and spend some family fun time. Oh, I am so fulfilled...these kids are my life!

I think it makes it easier to clean...I really don''t know. I do have a BBB nearby at the mall...will see if i can go on thursday. Toting two kids around jewelry shopping is a big hassle and huge distraction...my eyes shouldn''t be taken off of them...but how can you help when there is soo much sparkle right in front of your eyes?! Diamonds are so mesmerizing!

Here is the only picture that came out half decent. Gog sent me these tweezers shaped like a ring to hold the stone in place, how nice was that?? At first I thought they sent us the wrong package because my dad had opened it and I didnt yet see it. I surely wasnt expecting a loupe or anything else...so when my dad described the contents of the box, i told him to put everything back in so I can call them and tell them it was a mix-up. Needless to say, I got Marie on the phone and she just laughed at me and explained that is the way they send loose stones. The extras were for purchasing a h/a stone. I felt stupid...but i think they appreciated the sentiment behind my call. The Jubilee I purchased would have been no where near what someone would have paid for a stone AND setting...or so I thought :) My dad had no idea it wasn''t a setting, and his description made me think just that. Anyway, GOG is the bomb for sending the stone in such a lovely presentation box, and those tweezers-ahaaaahahaha!! This would be a story to tell my daughter when she receives this ring set in LM!! ...of course until then, I get to "keep" it...in a safe place that is,

That looks like a very nice stone. Do you have any close up photos??? I''d love to see them.

Went to meet with Leon Mege today and it was everything I expected! He was very helpful, and had a few outstanding suggestions...which some were incorporated into the ring. I''ve read in some posts how he could be a little snooty, but I saw none of it. From our emails, to phone calls, to face to face...this man was exceptional to work with. Our meeting was very comfortable and we discussed many possibilities. He was never eager to rush me into any design, but rather introduced his many favorites and let me lead him. He also was very happy to add some special touches to make the piece truly special for me. He joked he would even name the design after my daughter. However, I don''t think my ring will be very unique because as he put it, there is truly no one piece out there that hasn''t been done..I think I agree. Well, knowing he will be working on my ring assures me that I will receive a quality ring. I prefer to work with people that are experienced and efficient without sacrificing details, and this guy is the man for such a job. For those who want a truly wonderful art piece, look no further. Oh, btw...my stone is a mere 1.07ct. and he couldn''t stop commenting on how beautiful it looked and it looked more like a 1.3 ct+ I guess I have to thank Cary for that one! The design I decided on is a halo with airline micropave with eternity band and split shanks in platinum. He has great prices too! Now, i just have to try hard to forget about this ring, otherwise the wait will kill me.

j_yeh, i like the setting of the first picture you posted. what is it called?

oooooh, this ring is going to be fabulous!!! A leon design will be perfection. Please don''t forget about us. Be sure to show us pictures when the ring is complete.
