Okay, I''m planning on going to GOG about a week from now, and have been looking at what is available on their website. The main requirement is that it needs to be round. I''m not opposed to variations on round cuts, I''ve sent out an e-mail trying to figure out what the prices are on of their Solasfera diamonds. Here is what I''m looking at, help me shrink the list, or show me something I''m not thinking of.

1.00ct H SI1 $6003

1.02ct I SI1 $5490
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6365/

1.31ct J SI1 $6424
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6728/

1.01ct G VS2 $6774
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6724/

1.21ct I VS2 $7095
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6039/

1.29ct I SI1 $7151

I really like the pricing of the lower color diamonds, but I''m not sure how I feel about lower colors. I''ve gotten to see an F and an H next to eachother (both GIA graded) and could barely tell the difference, and would never see the yellow when they weren''t next to eachother. At a different store, I saw an AGS H by itself, and face up the color looked good, but when they put the stone on top of the prongs of a setting to show how it would look, I saw a lot of yellow from the side. Clarity, I''d love to be able to afford a high clarity, but as long as its eyeclean when I''m holding it close to my face (I have bad vision) then I''m okay with it. Looking forward to your help guys.

Oooh Good old Gold. Great choice! Definitely view their August Vintage Rounds when you go. I have one and it was the best decision I''ve ever made, jewelry-wise. Here''s a youtube with some of their H&A and some of their AV Rounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eXdKWg4ZQ8 This video is also a good meter of small variations in colors. Here''s an example of that cut, though the K may be a little warm for you: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6730/

I have bought from GOG twice now. Please make an appointment. And make sure you have time with Jonathon , he''s awesome to work with. No pressure, he wants to educate you. Best of luck. GOG is the best, I adore them..

To find a price on a Solasfera click on Reserve Diamond.

To find a price on a Solasfera click on Reserve Diamond.

Thanks for that! Didn''t think of trying it, but good to see my suspicions were right. Too expensive.

I will definitely be making an appointment, just want to narrow down diamond choices first.

And thanks for the August Vintage suggestion. I''ll get to the youtube video later, but that K looks like it is a good choice as long as I''m okay with the color.

Okay, I looked at diamonds on their site some more, specifically the August Vintage, but some more RB as well. Found two more. Anybody wanna help me eliminate some? Should I be worried about the surface graining on the 1.31 J? Anyways, here is what else I found, and I''m making them clickable too.

1.00ct August Vintage J SI1 $4999
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6880/

1.15ct RB K VVS1 $6189 (not too sure on how I feel about the color...)

the surface graining should not be a problem as it is not the grade setting inclusions.

the 2 new stones look good to me.

Okay, so I think tomorrow I will call and make an appointment and see if they can help me narrow down the list as well. I think I will eliminate the 1.21 I and the the 1.29 I, so that gets me back down to 7 including the AV joxxxelyn suggested. Hmmm... tough to decide... well at least they are knowledgeable so they can help me.

One last post tonight. I just noticed more diamonds in the inventory, so I picked out a few more.

1.10ct J SI1 $4975 (only potential issue is medium blue fluorescence, otherwise I really like it)
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6886/

1.04ct G SI2 $5990 (I''m concerned about SI2 but the pictures look good)
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6205/

1.00ct G SI2 August Vintage $5486 (Again, concerned about SI2, but pictures look good)
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6697/

I think I''m obsessing over this a little much.

ya. :P

Just reseve what you like best for the viewing and then see what the rest of the inventories are on that day... :P
