Hi,

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I've seen many of the beautiful rings with coloured diamonds and need advice.

I had a twist band ring made with white and natural pink diamonds set in19K white gold. However, after getting the ring back, the pink diamonds seem washed out. The jeweller said that I could "fake" more pink by rhodium plating the parts with the pink diamonds if it really bothered me, but the plating would wear off. I was thinking more along the lines of replacing the white gold pave beading with pink gold next to the pink diamonds just to enhance the colour a little bit, but not overpower them...

Should I leave the ring as is, or go with pink gold pave, or do the rhodium plating (which I was told will wear off)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)

I like the rose gold idea the best out of the two. I don't know very much about colored diamonds but maybe you could replace the pink diamonds with a more vivid lot? This might give you more of the look you are going for than the rose gold or rhodium plating.

Hi Hoover,
I like the subtlety of your ring!

You could try enhancing your pink diamonds with rose gold which is great if you don't mind the two-toned look and a slightly coppery look. see the pink halo around the picture in the top post https://www.pricescope.com/communit...vc-ring-project.166794/#post-3036287#p3036287

If you did want a more intense pink, perhaps swapping the pink diamonds for sapphires might be a better idea. BGD has some pretty vivid pink sapphires, but he could probably get you some less intense ones too. http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/home/ring-details/?product_id=5434

Hi Hoover,
We have this type of question frequently- for those who only love white metal.
What we've found is that white metal washes out the color of pink melee ( small round diamonds)- rhodium will not help one bit.
Basically, the same stones that look nice and pink micro pave in rose gold look totally washed out in white metal.
Future Mrs. Williamson has a good idea hyperthetically- however it's incredibly costly to find very deeply colored pink melee- and even then, settting it in white dulls the color considerably.

Hoover- Unfortunately, it seems your jeweler does not have a lot of experience with pink melee- they should have advised you about this.

Based on the photos it does not seem to be the type of ring where rose gold might be added.

I actually love it as it is!!! I think the soft pink is very classy looking and too much contrast might be not as pretty. So I would leave it as it is if it were mine!

Thank you for the replies!

Unfortunately, vivid pink diamonds are out of my price range and good quality natural coloured diamonds in my city aren't easy to get....

I'm pretty sure that I get a "do-over" with this ring because the same day that I picked it up, I noticed that I was short one white diamond on the band and took it back. It was 2 white - 6 pink - 6 white - 1 pink on one side, but 2 white - 6 pink - 5 white - 1 pink on the other. That was when I brought up that I felt the pink diamonds looked washed out and I wanted them re-done with rose gold beading since the ring has to be re-made anyways.

The jeweller is consulting his goldsmith as to whether the one side can be "fixed" to bring it back up to 6 white, or if they have to break the ring apart to remove the all diamonds and make the ring from scratch again. He was really concerned about the potential damage when the stones are removed (it took a really long time to source the pinks), and that was when he suggested plating the ring...

It's been a really long process and I just really want things to be done right and look great.

I love your ring too... the way it is.. the subtleness of pink is very nice...

I agree, I think it's really pretty just as it is. I like the subtle shade of pink.

I think your rings very pretty. If you do decide on a more vivid pink intoomwould go with sapphires.

I also love the way it looks now. subtle but beautiful. if it were mine and I were re-doing it to bump up the pinkness, I would probably go the rose gold route...
