Are most pink diamonds treated? I have no idea what they cost or should cost if they are treated or not. What should a .5ct non treated pink diamond run?

Another thing you can do to get more pink diamond for your money (besides selecting a more-faint pink) is look for one with a color modifier.

The orange-pink and even some of the brown pink diamonds are beautiful and more affordable than pure pink.

Purple as a modifier does not seem to lower the price compared to pure pink; it may even increase the price, I don't know.
A red modifier will increase the price astronomically.

You can tell how close to pink or to orange it is by how they phrase the color's name:
In order, from least pink to most pink. . .

Pinkish Orange
Pink Orange
Orange Pink
Orangish Pink

Have a look at Diamonds by Lauren - they have a few pinks / pinks with modifying colours in stock and can source others. Also do a search on PS - there are one or two PSers with pink diamonds from DBL (I think it''s Stepcutgirl who has the most delicious pink pear).

To create a treated pink diamond is not very easy compared to yellow or green, thus the market is not saturated with treated pinks. A couple of firms have made some advances in the past few years so one might speculate that there will be more in the future. I would suggest getting a GIA report with any pink diamond to be sure of the origin of its color. Prices can vary, but inexpensive they are not.

Good luck.
