Hello all!

Recently my fiancé and I decided to upgrade my ring. I found a ring very similar to the one posted here. It is a 1.32ct Asscher (GIA - F/VS1 ex.ex. STUNNNNNNNNING stone. It has .18ct fancy pink & .33 white stones down the sides...) They quoted us $9,000 on it. (including the gorgeous Asscher!)

This sounds like a very fair price, do you guys agree? The vendor is completely reliable and has quite an amazing collection of well-cut Asschers. (I''ve hardly met anyone in LA who knows much about Asschers...)

Also, could anyone know where I can find more settings similar to the one posted?

Thanks!

hey kittenkat,
that is one gorgeous ring!

all for 9k? it sounds too good to be true!!

a good quality asscher of that size would cost almost that much itself! however, if you are confident in the seller, this could be quite a find! be sure to let us know what you decide!

Hmm that does sound like an excellent price!! Almost too good?

That setting with pink (diamonds??) all the way down the side and with the halo would seemingly cost a few thousand itself? Add in the diamond and seems like the whole thing should be more?

I found this:
https://www.pricescope.com/origin.asp?id=330633&sh=15&prc=9794

which shows a 1.32 F VS1 Asscher for $9700, just the stone. The setting would be around maybe $2k additional depending on the stones, but pink diamonds are not cheap?

Have you seen the stone that is going into the ring? Asschers are a tricky diamond...you have to make sure that the look appeals to you visually and each look is going to be different. So make sure you can see the steps clearly, that there is that 'miles deep' look to it...so make sure it's a good stone and not just something that is being passed off as an Asscher but is really just a step emerald or something.

If you have seen the stone and love it, then great...but just double check that price. The ring itself looks and sounds like it will be really beautiful, please keep us posted.

Sounds great ! Especially if there is a lab report for the stone... but even if there isn't... It is hard to believe that someone could present a butt ugly piece as F/VS1 with impunity (you would see tee-color and glaring inclusions anyway).

Pearlmanjewelers list several multicolor settings for rounds - since not all pieces from desighers' collections are listed online, I would bet there are versions of those for fancy shapes as well. .18cts is not allot of fancy pink melee, and on pink gold those do not have to be of intense pink color to look pink. Still, the setting you show is quite intricate - not likely to be inexpensive either with colored or white pave.

I suspect the first ring is set with pink sapphire, and the caption for the listing is wrong... The second is from the Beaudry collection and I would not take the price quote for refference.

Icestore lists a couple of rings with pink pave: this one has intense pink melee set in white metal - quite unusual choice because usually pink metal is needed to show any color in those small diamonds. another version comes with a quote for "intense pink" as well, which makes it quite a bit more expenbsive than I would expect the more common light or fancy pink to be; the ring in the picture is not very large (half carat center). As for this... oh well, I do not know how to separate the cost of the very serious diamond and wonderful setting (below). If they could make a version with pink pave just on the top of the frame it would be very, very nice ...

Thank you for your replies.

Yep, the cost is correct - and I saw that same Blue Nile stone that is over $9k! Actually, the second I got home from looking at the ring, I checked Pscope for comparisons - we''d both flipped since the price seemed so incredibly fair.

We saw the ring this past weekend. The Asscher itself is brilliant, cut extremely well, and clear as can be! I have seen so many Asschers that were duds - this one looked like a work of art.

The pink diamonds just surround the Asscher itself. And with a loop I could tell they are pure pink - I didn''t see any hint of brown. They are a little bit lighter in color than this setting here.

The ring I love actually has filigree on the sides - and just a few whites going down each side. It''s also set with prongs - rather than the bezel this ring has.

So it does sound like a great deal... I am thrilled.

It sounds beautiful, don''t forget to post pics when you get it!!!

sounds like an amazing ring at an equally amazing price! pleeeeeeease post pics, i would love to see this beauty

valeria101 - those examples are fantastic!!

This ring is almost identical to the one I saw... Except the one I saw doesn''t have the two larger stones... only the pave. It has the same detailing though.

Wow. I am very excited about possibly getting a ring like that.

I forgot to look at the Beaudry rings!

You said you''re purchasing this ring from the LAJD, correct? If this is correct, find out if you can take the ring to an independent appraiser to ensure that you are getting a great deal and if so, then swipe up this baby!!!

If the jeweler refuses to allow you to get an independent appraisal, then you might want to be cautious...My mother has bought many itema from the LAJD...she leaves a check with the jeweler, goes to an independent appraisal, and then will return to the jeweler. If the jewelry is appraised well, then she''ll tell them to cash the check...if it received a poor appraisal, then she''ll return the jewelry and ask for her check back. She''s never had a problem doing this and they''ve been going to the LAJD for years!!

It''ll also give you the peace of mind that you''re paying exactly for what you want!!!! Can''t wait to see this beauty!!!

This sounds like a sweet deal. If it is what you have been told it is, I hope you take the plunge and get the ring. But please don''t forget those hand pics!

WHOA. If the stone/specs check out (and your eyes have already given you the ok) I say JUMP on it!!!! The asscher sounds fab, and now I''m suddenly thinking how much I''d like pink melee in MY imaginary ring!!! YUM!!! GO FOR IT (and post pics

WOW- Sounds like an AMAZING deal.
So much so that I would advise strong caution.
If you can post a copy of the GIA report, that might allow some discussion on the particulars.

again- I''m not saying it''s surely too good to be true- but that it''s bordering on such a price.

Today, with prices rising as fast as they are, a ring which has been in stock for 6 months can seem unreasonably inexpensive if the sellers have not adjusted the price.
The price of a platinum semi mount ring with Pink side diamonds (like the one pictured) wil be more than $2k

I agree re: getting a final opinion from an independent appraiser who can ensure that yes the asscher is real, yes the pink diamonds are real, yes everything is kosher and then you have a new amazing ring!

But I would definitely get that final appraiser opinion, independent, not on a jewelry store''s payroll...just because it does seem like a VERY good deal...and that makes me suspicious!!

I would absolutely get an appraisal.

But overall, I think I got VERY lucky in terms of finding this ring / stone.

They are at the Vegas show - so we''ll wait and see upon their return.

i hope you made a great find! ....looking forward to hearing about it!

Me too!!! I would definitely take it to an independent appraiser, before purchasing.

I hope it just is a VERY fabulous deal because I want to see the pictures of this ring.

Keep us posted!

Well... I got the ring yesterday...

We looked at the ring with the pink diamonds - and a another very beautiful true antique Asscher that was over 2cts. Well, while the Asschers were amazing, I decided to toss my OEC in the setting instead of getting either Asscher. (The Asscher in the pink setting was the same size as my current stone.)

We are having them make the ring custom to fit my stone! I am completely attached to my original stone, and chickened out of replacing it. (I''ve never seen a more beautiful OEC... the Asschers can wait ;-)

So... in about a month or so - I''ll post pics of my new ring!

Woohoo!

If anyone is interested in an Asscher that is 1.32ct, VS1, F ex/ex and you live in LA - let me know and I''ll send you their way. The stone IS amazing and a great deal. (Most their stone on display are extremely well cut. And the family who owns the store - is wonderful!)

Congrats it sounds like you are getting exactly what you want.

Yay!!

I''m so happy for you. I can''t wait to see this ring!!!!!! Pink is my FAVORITE color!!! Then again, maybe I should not look at your ring -- it may make me wish I had put pink diamonds in my halo!!! Hanging around here truly makes me insane!!!!
