Please help.

I just had my first kid and want to thank my wife for all she''s been through with a pink solitaire.

Price = $22,000

I don''t need to get a bargain but I would like to avoid being ripped off!

These are the GIA details

brilliant
0.74 carats
depth 61%
table 63%
girdle medium faceted
culet small
polish very good
symm very good
Clarity SI2
Color Natural intense purplish pink, even
Fluor Medium blue

price ok

the clarity bad

Very hard to know a price from a GIA description.
We should wait for an appraiser to tell us if they have experiance in pinks - they are rare.
If you are in Oz I can help.
Sounds like an Argyle Australian stone - clarity is fine - they are usually I1 when the color is intense.
You can get some idea from the Argyle color chart on my site at www.preciousmetals.com.au

(BTW Eitan, clear off - sleezy traders are unwelcome)

Could be a very nice stone... Are you able to post a picture??

PS. Clarity ISN'T bad... SI 2 is still quite high for fancies... Especially pink and brown stones... As Garry said, they usually are P 1(I 1) or even P 2(I 2).

Curious - how would the med. bl. fluor affect color? Also, doesn't the cut seem off?

Dear F&I... Cut isn't that important with fancy colors... Often they are very deep or shallow to make the color more/less apparent. This one would be an average cut (judging from the data) if it were round, but being colored, is still very nice.

Medium Blue should still be negligible. There shouldn't be evident effects.

Many thanks to all for advice. Have decided to go ahead and get the diamond

Tom.
