Hi everybody, thanks for all you help so far in my search for a ring. I have looked at this ring with a pink colored stone. It's ct.. 52 with .20 on the sides. Its I1. In platinum.
They are looking for approx 4500 $.
Is this too expensive so an i1 stone. I really like it but dont want to pay over the odds.
i have added a photo I hpoe it helps. Thanks to all :appl:

I'd want to know if the color is of natural origin.
I suspect not at that low price, because here's a smaller pink round (though stronger color), 0.44 ct for $25,400: http://www.fancydiamonds.net/view_diamonds/5095.htm

Value depends on what it is.
What it is is established by a lab report, not trusting the seller's opinion.
Is there a gem lab report for the pink?
If so, which lab?
Does it say pure pink or is there gray or brown in there too?

If it is a synthetic diamond or the color is the result of treatment the price may be too high.
Is it new or used?
Is it being sold by a jeweler or a private person?

This is more likely, if it's natural, to be faint pink or more likely to have a color modifier such as brown. The only way to pinpoint a more accurate value is to know the actual color grade. For this I would only trust a GIA certificate. Does it have one? If not, will they unmount the stone and get one? That would be the only way I would consider purchasing it.

Thank you guys, It does have a certificate, My problem is that I live in Japan and somethings get lost in translation!!! I believe it is natural, and it is a resale. I am visiting the shop again in the next day or 2 so it will be great to get an idea of some other questions I should have answered.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

Oh one more thing colour grade was noted as FLOP??? I figured this is just a translation error, Perhaps I am wrong???
Any ideas what this might mean??

FLOP may be Fancy Light Orange Pink.
I kind of doubt that grading based on the pic but pics are not reliable.
I see more brown than orange.

Which lab graded it?
This is important.
Not all labs use the same grading standards.
Shocking, but true.

GIA is the lab report you want.
It is the most strict and trusted for Fancy Colored Diamonds.

From what I gather the certificate comes from here. If this means anything to you. We are in Japan...
Hiroshi Naka Jewelry Institute.

Thanks I will gather more info tomorrow when I find an English speaker in the store. It is a resale!
