Pink burmese spinel

It's arrived!!!!!

I took a chance on an inexpensive 1.97ct burmese spinel. Haha I flouted a lot of CS rules in doing so. It has a window and was wonky.

Very very very pleased and definitely setting it as the window is not too bad in real life due to the lively nature of the stone and the vendor's pictures highlighted the wonkyness much worse than it is in real life.

It's actually a really nice roval in real life. I think he had it turned badly for the studio pics.

So so so pleased!!!!!!!

Beautiful color and looks great on your hand! The window looks very small to my eyes, will likely be even less noticeable when it is set.

Thanks ladies! I really wanted to set it this weekend but unfortunately the weather is predicted to be ghastly so I won't be trotting out to the jeweller!

@voce you know me and my complete lack of design aesthetic. Premade settings all the way! I am fortunate in the sense that I lack the critical eye that most PSers possess and find premade settings very pleasing. I tend to look at stuff and think "Oooh that works!" or "Ugly! Next" which makes it very simple to set stones. Especially ones that can fit into round settings!

Haha I have offered the 5mm pad to Lil Sis so we shall she if she succumbs to temptation and sets it! I am rather pleased as I love my spinel colour as much as the pad colour which is a big deal since previously I LOVED that pad colour and always agonised about the size.

Plus side by side the new spinel doesn't look too shabby colourwise!

So halo all the way!!!!!!!! Plus white diamonds will set off the pink!

I'm so tempted to brave the rain on Saturday! And get a potato spiral on a stick snack too. And pork belly on a stick. Mmmmmm

Love the setting!! Beautiful stone in a fantastic setting. I love the swirly/twirly look and the gorgeous pink glow. This is a spectacular ring.

I buy them from this shop in Chinatown Sydney.

They have a really good jeweller who knows coloured gems so I can get a stone set pretty fast if I find a setting that I like!
