Hello all,

Here are some pictures of my g/f's ring. The sun was not very cooperative, and the digital camera is new. That being said, here are the pics

Some of you may have to right-mouse click and select "open image" in order to view the pics.

Nope, can't view it at all.

Let me try this again...

I just cropped them down quite a bit, so they now can fit as attachments.

I didn't use the flash on these pics, which may explain why the diamonds look a little dark. They seem to look a little darkish in direct sunlight (but very sparkly), and very bright and cheery under artificial lighting (and not as sparkly).

Hi Dbretton,

Oooh, just lovely! Darkish & sparkly is just how it is supposed to look in bright sunlight, so don't worry. I love the setting, as I am sure that your GF will think as well. Make sure to take more pics on her finger.

Hello all,

After picking up a mini-tripod and playing with my camera for a few hours, I managed to come up with a few new pics that seem a little better.

Here's one:

Here's one that shows off the potential of the sidestones:

Your fiancee is one lucky lady. What a ring!

Thank you.

I'm quite the novice when it comes to photography skills. It's challenging to take a good photograph of the diamonds. I kind of enjoy the challenge, however.

Tips on how to take better pics would be appreciated.

DancinGirl, I read that you have been working with your Canon digicam. Have any tips to share?

I just folded up some Kleenex, threaded it through the ring, then placed the ring on top of a white box, which was on top of a white blanket. I turned the ISO all the way down (160 for me), and took the pic with macro turned on, the white balance set to incandescent (or outdoor) lighting, and a 2 second timer.

Hey,

Actually I have an Olympus - not Canon, sorry!

Wish I could help you there. I THINK Scorpion has a Canon, but I could be wrong. Yours look really good though. No worries!!

:-)

My bad. I knew you said Olympus; I was thinking Olympus; however, I typed in Canon.
Band dfingers! Bad! Bad! -smack-

That aside, what settings work best for you?

Regards,
Dennis
