Oh and these are in the blogs, but I thought I'd add them here too.
Mike Todd diamond earrings and Art Deco diamond bow brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels

My very favorite earrings are the Mike Todd earrings. Just beyond beautiful.

I am feeling so sad because tonight the exhibition closed for good to get ready for the live auction to begin on Wednesday. Her collection will never be all together again.

I love this one, and if I remember right, it wasn't all that expensive. At least the opening bid. The discs are made of ivory. I would wear this one!

That necklace is one of the few pieces that Elizabeth had made for herself and I loved it the moment I saw it. Pear lovers are good people! (I'm a pear girl ) ;))

I'm guessing that the closing prices will be stratospheric, far in excess of Christie's auction estimates. There has not been an auction like this since the Duchess of Windsor's jewels and I suspect that Elizabeth Taylor's jewels, especially the legendary ones in the first group, may outperform the Duchess' pieces, as compared to their original auction estimates. It will be sad to see the famous jewels scattered and in private hands, but Elizabeth Taylor had always said that she considered herself a temporary custodian.

Was anyone surprised to see her wedding bands from her marriage to Richard Burton up for auction? I'm just surprised that her children, especially Maria Burton, did not want to keep such sentimental pieces. Perhaps there were pieces they already kept as mementos.
