I have the top setting in your post. the setting is very pretty and delicate in real life. I love the elegance of the prongs and the and the shape of it. BUT ...it is very lightweight and my diamond spins terribly. it is VERY beautiful and everything I thought I wanted in a solitaire.. but I wish it had a little more ...(can't think of a word) oomph? to it. not thicker... heavier? Anyway, now I am thinking of changing setting to something with some bling.
Kellydean- Thank you for posting! Can you post a side view? Also, is your setting in platinum or white gold? Your set and diamond are positively yummy!
Niel- How fantastic that this is one of the contender's for your winning post! Will you purchase a new diamond or colored stone for this or will this setting (or whatever setting you choose) be a reset of something that you have already?
Niel- Sorry, I see that you are looking at a new diamond. Just re-read your post.
I think that I am leaning toward the cathedral setting just to add some more weight based on what Kellydean has written.
My current setting is platinum and has diamonds on the shank. I want to focus on the business part of my engagement ring w/o anything else to distract, probably in an effort to have something in my life that is clean and clutter free (I have toddler boys and a husband). I don't want to spend too much on the setting because I think that I will probably get a halo later in life, maybe 15 - 20 years from now.
