First off: Oh wow is Gene's cutting spectacular! By far, this is the most amazing cut I've seen yet. I can only imagine how much his garnets and spinels must sparkle in real life. It's a shame he doesn't put up videos because even though his photos are great, they really can't do his cutting justice.

Anyways, on to the stone itself: I love it! The pleochromism is mesmerizing. I can't stop playing with it to watch the colors change!

Stone stats: 2.77ct. 7.54 x9.14 mm unheated Tanzanite

Ok, now some pics :)
First, indoor fluro lighting.

Last one!
I had to sneak these pics real quick since my hubby is home and would make fun of me, haha. But this gem is so photogenic so it made the picture taking easy!

That is the most gorgeous color blue!!! What are you planning on doing with that beauty!?

Oh gawd it''s gorgeous! What are you going to do w/that baby??? I love the e/w pictures. At first I thought it said "EW" like ewwww and I''m like wha??? hahaha

So pretty. I love how blue it is and the cut is so unique.

What are your plans?

Thanks guys! I think the camera is picking up a touch more blue and down playing the purple in some of the photos. IRL, it's a bit more purple and less blue (like the first few pics), but a lovely color none the less, when I have more time, I'll try to see if I can get more accurate photos.

The plans...well...I'm waffling between a pendant and a ring. Probably going with Sally's mistral setting, but set N/S, in rose gold (finally, something rose gold!)

Yay! I think rose gold would complement the color beautifully. My vote would be for a pendant, given both the softness and the size of the stone.

I wrote to Sally already for the price quotes

Depending on the price, I may need to save up a bit though.

Practicality and reason would say I should make a pendant. But...I like to be able to see and play with the stone! Especially since the colors are so fun when you move it around.

Pretty stone, I really like that setting for it.

What a beautiful stone!!!

Thanks! I blame this one on you and your yummy tanz cushion :-P Did you pick a setting for that yet?

Stunning. I''d want a ring, myself, given how much I''d want to look at it, but since its so soft, a pendant would be amazing. That color is superb!

LOVE IT!!!!!!

Thanks Amethystguy. It is 2.77ct. 7.54 x9.14 mm.
I know, Gene''s picture didn''t really do this guy justice in my opinion, but that''s lucky for me I guess.

Verrrry wonderful !!

Here it is in incandescent bathroom lighting, very purply

If you do a ring, I''d look into a bezel to protect it from wear. My best tanzanite is bezeled, and some of my others (prong-set) have shown signs of wear.
