Petite claw prong uneven?

Hi everyone!

Previously, I asked for opinion on ring design and the center stone. Thanks to everyone's help, I received the ring today and it is beautiful

I just have two concerns upon getting the ring:

(1) Petite claw prongs uneven
Based on the pic, i believe the petite claw prongs which i requested for, especially the top left, is slightly smaller than the rest. From far, the prongs are very dainty which is exactly what i am looking for.

When scrutinised, the shape and size seem to be a little off. Wondering if this is normal? I understand that prongs are shaven down by hand. Also, my center diamond is only 0.7ct, which may make it difficult for them to get it exactly right? What do you all think?

(2) Side diamonds raised and may rub onto other fingers

When worn, i can feel the side diamonds on the other fingers since they are slightly raised as shown in pics. I did ask them to flush them into the band as much as possible, but they mentioned this is the best they can do while maintaining the look I wanted.

Has anyone faced similar issues? And how did you overcome it?
- i am thinking we can get a thicker wedding band so that when stacked, the band will be the one in contact with the other fingers.

Thank you!!!

The top left prong looks smaller. As for the diamonds on the band, aside from your solution, I'm not sure what else you can do without redesigning the band.

By the way, the first picture is endearing. With the lighting, it looks as though there's a tiny heart at the center of your diamond!

I definitely missed that heart shape reflection on the diamond, thanks for pointing that out :)

Would the slightly smaller left prong bother you? @pjam Just trying to gauge whether it is a common issue for small center stone and whether i should have it corrected.

My worry is if they have to shave down every other prong to be smaller, it might affect the security of the center stone.

I would have it fixed (the prong). Ask how they will fix it. I think they can add gold to it and rework it but don't take my word for it.
We have seen many prongs reworked on Pricescope and they do not come back smaller (they come back like the other
prongs). I would make your concerns known when you speak with them though.

Hey @tyty333 , thanks for this! Probably will check in with them to confirm what can/ cant be done and work within the limits!

I had a similar issue with my old ring, I got used to it and it didn't bother me after awhile. I totally understand wanting it to be more even though. I'd check with the jeweller as to what the options are.

In terms of second question, it depends whether she's fidgety with her rings. I like to fidget, so I prefer smooth rings but that's my personal preference.

That would drive me nuts. It’s not an antique ring where I could forgive some wonkiness.
Speak with the jeweler about it. It should be a fairly minor tweak of adding metal to the tip and buffing to shape.

Thank you @beepbopbroom @Bonfire !!

Yep, will probably be taking the ring in after the proposal and see what they can do about it :)

Hi sindiamonds1. Sorry for the late response. It has been a very busy week!

If it bothers you, you should have the prong fixed. I'm not sure about the strength of the prongs if the others are shaved down. As a few responders suggested, you might consider asking for the small one be built up.

Did you decide on what to do with the diamonds on the side? Will you get a larger wedding band or rework the diamonds on the band?

Hey @pjam !! Thanks for the reply.

Will probably see if they can make the smallest prong larger :) for the diamond band, just gonna get them to confirm if there's any prong not evenly shaved down. Don't think I will make any major changes unless my gf requests for it!

Currently in japan and proposing soon haha

Good luck mate! I'm sure your soon to be wife will love it!

You're welcome. It is a lovely design. The side diamonds look like snowflakes.

Best wishes!

It looks beautiful on her hand, congratulations!

It looks wonderful! Beautiful backdrop!

The ring looks gorgeous on your partner!

Thanks all! Ends up she didn't mind the diamonds on the band, so more of resizing it half size smaller and the prongs
