Pet loss thread for those who are grieving

Oh no @whitewave I remember when you got Manny, how awful, poor little boy :cry2:

Even though he was with you for such a short time, he was much loved and wanted.

I’m so sorry! :cry2:

Oh no, not Manny. I'm so sorry, whitewave. Terrible. He was a real cutie pie and you guys gave him an amazing loving home. I hope your newly adopted sweet girl helps assuage the loss somehow. You were wonderful to Manny.

I’m sorry too. I know how much you loved Manny. What a lucky boy he was to spend the last 7 months being loved by you. I know how much he will be missed.

@whitewave
I'm so sorry about your dog. I know how upsetting it is to lose an animal; I've had my heart broken a few times. Take care.

Thanks, everyone. I am reading the comments. My moods are all over the place right now....:blackeye:

We adopted my foster bulldog Elizabeth today. She is thrilled.

She has been a great comfort but I miss my boy so bad.

My heart dog was a rescue ex racing greyhound called Zoomie.
He was so beautiful, loyal and loving but he got bone cancer and at age 10 with a bad back (why he was retired) amputation wasn’t an option. We just kept him painfree until he told us otherwise. Saddest day ever.
Still miss my big boy, gone but never forgotten.

Hugs and more hugs to you @whitewhave. Losing ab eloved furbaby is so hard and my heart goes out to you and your family. How are the twins doing? Congratulations on your new family member and I hope she brings you comfort and joy and solace. One thing that helped bring us peace after Billy died was rescuing 3 more cats not to take his place but to honor his memory and save 3 lives. That is how much we loved and love our Billy boy. Somehow it made sense to us and I don't regret it for a moment. Everyone is different and there is no one right way to grieve and I still cry for our Billy whom I miss terribly almost 9 years later. But rescuing 3 more cats helped us through the process and gave us some peace knowing we were honoring Billy.

(((HUGS))).

ETA Greg made this for Billy's ashes.

Aww what a sweet boy and I am so sorry for your loss. (((Hugs))).

She’s lovely @whitewave. When our second boy died, a pup needing a home came up immediately. We couldn’t say no, and it helped to ease the pain. I hope Elizabeth brings you lots of joy.

I've lost my three in the last 2.5 years - my heart dog Christmas day, 2016 and my last dog 3 weeks ago. I have nothing to add here, because I can't bear putting it into words. But I wanted you to know my thoughts are with you, @whitewave. The loss is profound.

I'm still grieving my Max, and we lost him six months ago. I haven't been able to bring myself to think about being open to love a new baby yet. Well meaning friends keep saying that it would be good for me to have someone new to love (and it might, because that's how I coped with the loss of my other two boys), but I'm still not ready. I'm not convinced I will be for a long time.

Mrs. B., I'm sorry for your loss too. I know how much this makes your heart hurt.

Still missing my beloved Bichon who passed a year and a half ago.

My kids are desperate for a dog but I just don’t think I can. I know a new dog wouldnt replace him, but I still can’t look in a dog’s eyes without seeing the way he looked at me for the last time.

In time, maybe....

Hugs to all my grieving friends.

White wave, I’m so sorry that you lost your beloved Manny. It must have been such a terrible shock for you, but you loved him so well in the time that you had him. I hope those wonderful memories can help give you some comfort. (((Hugs))).

Thank you, everyone for posting. I send hugs to everyone who is missing hers/her fur babies. It’s so hard.

I cant believe I’m about to post this pic (Sunday early morning + nightgown), but I think it says a thousand words :kiss2:

@whitewave , A beautiful photo of you and your gorgeous dogs.

I just came across this photo yesterday, from 2006 or so.
Me on the floor, hugging my baby, who we lost to kidney failure a few months ago, on March 5.
I sure do miss him.

What sweeties. OMG precious.:kiss2:

I'm so sorry @whitewave . We love our girls so much, and when my maltese passes away I will be incredibly heartbroken. She turned 9 this year, and I cried realizing that she's over halfway through her doggy life. She's my heart, and I don't think I'll ever stop missing her. We love our pets so much, and it hurts when they pass.

Please pray for my baby - Quincy the Maltese has a very large growth, he's having surgery today to remove the marble sized growth on his back side. I'm terrified for him. He's only 12-1/2 years and I'm hoping he will be with me for a few more. He's a spunky little guy at 7 lbs!!!

Queenie, I'm sending sweet Quincy lots of good thoughts for a smooth surgery and quick recovery - and sending lots of hugs to you, I know how stressful this is.

Will do. Please keep us posted.

@Queenie60 I am wishing Quincy all the best!!!!

@Queenie60 Sending buckets of dust for you and Quincy. Hopefully the surgery will go quickly and the growth will be benign so Quincy can get back to being his spunky little self quickly. It’s stressful when our furbabies have health issues. Hang in there Queenie.

What a sweet picture @whitewave!

@Queenie60 Lots of prayers and dust for Quincy's surgery and quick recovery. Also sending a bucket full of Hugs to help you keep calm during!

@whitewave I just saw this and I hope you've been doing better and that Elizabeth is helping keep your mind off things.

@mrs-b, @stracci2000, and everyone else dealing with the loss of your furries - lots of hugs for your losses.

Didn't work out as planned. Quincy's heart rate dropped drastically two times while under anesthesia. Dr. was not able to perform surgery. They did an EKG and sent to a canine heart specialist. Quincy goes back tomorrow morning under the supervision of his lovely Dr. Reed and heart specialist so that we can get this tumor out. Please pray for my little guy. This has been a tough road. I'm terrified and tomorrow will be a rough day until I know that the surgery went smoothly.
