Pet behavior that is...flat WEIRD.

Deb that would make sense.

Either way, glad you copied this pic because I wanted to say this is an all time favourite of mine, thanks Haven.

Reminds me that in the North of the UK they used to refer to cold nights as one dog or two dog nights - meaning curl up with one dog, if extra cold, curl up with two.... So this is a one dog and two cat night. I love sleeping with Molls but I'm banished to the sofa when I want to :) so its for an afternoon snooooooze

That's a tap dancing tub cat. ROFLMAO.

Awesome

Matata, don't know how to say it, but Your. Cat. Is. Crazy. One too many bad experiences with fruit, methinks.

Seriously, that is one of the cutest things I've seen. I couldn't tell were you - was the water on? He/she has great rythm!

I think it was a battle with bananas that made him muy loco. Yep, the tub had water in it and his floaty toys were in there. This was last year and he was still thinking like a kitten and too dumb to figure out that the toys move in the water only if you put your feet in there and stir them around. Poor kitty. He has since learned that he has to make them move. He's currently out on the patio splashing in his kiddie pool.

That is fantastic, I love this thread!

Oh my goodness, these stories and videos are so funny. We've all got some really strange pets! Matata, your kitty's dance made me giggle. I'd love to see another of him actually playing IN the tub. :twirl:

She also has a strange affinity for her potted palm plant. Every now and again, you will catch her walking in nearly impossibly slow circles around this plant, staring at nothing in the general direction of the floor about 3 feet in front of her, with the palm leaves err so gently touching her back as she circles. If you say her name while she's doing it, or even look at her, she immediately gives you her "I'm a naughty dog" look, even though she's never been in trouble for it.

We had a cocker spaniel who did this same thing! It's almost like she would go into a trance and walk ever so slowly, completely oblivious to all other things.

I thought of a few more good stories.

Zack, our male Ragdoll cat, freaks out if doors are closed. We could all be in the living room, and if the bedroom door is closed he starts howling. And Ragdolls are supposed to be a non-vocal breed (Ha!!).

The cats also refuse to kill bugs. There was a spider in the bathroom the other day. I'm not kidding you, rather than kill it, they every so gently pet it.

My mom's chihuahua, Lois, goes into statue mode when you put a sweater on her. When she was a puppy she would happily wear them. And Clark, the German Shepard, would grab the sweater (with her in it) and fling her across the room, and she'd run right back for more. The next winter we tried to put a sweater on her and got a very different reaction. Basically, she freezes. You can stick her on the mantle, the table, a window sill, or (my favorite) in the corner of the room facing the wall...and she will absolutely not move.

Ahahahahaha!

A friend of mine had a kitty that went into statue mode when clothed! She actually put a harness on him one day because she thought he might like to go for a walk. They made it to the hallway outside her apartment, and then he froze and tipped over cow-style. He refused to get up, so she left him there and went back into the apartment. Several minutes later she heard a strange dragging sound and looked out to see her kitty on his belly, his back legs flat out behind. He was reaching one front paw out at a time, grabbing the carpeting with his claws, and dragging his otherwise limp body toward the door. Drama king!

Matata--I LOVE the tub dance! The squeaking is hilarious. I know I've said it before, but your kitties are gorgeous.

He was an awesome cat. He's actually been my muse since I met him 12 years ago. I've named every MC in every story I've written since after him. Short stories and novels!

NO WAY! A "strange dragging sound"

The "freeze if you're in clothes" stories are wonderful but the tap-dancing, squeaky feet cat, Matata is just wonderful. What a beautiful creature and what crazy behaviour. Fred Astaire in a past life - as elegant and just as good a tap dancer :)

My Siamese, Baby Kitty must think she is a dog.

All my cats are allowed to go outside as they please via the cat door. Whenever we come home from being away she runs onto the porch and throws herself down on her side and rolls over and over. She does this 3 or 4 times before we make it to the door.

She is a such a goofy girl.

Juba Kai likes the jacuzzi...

That is awesome!  I thought cats hated water?!! Matata you have definitely cornered the market on the weird cat behavior...I LOVE your cats!

Bengals are water happy cats generally, if I remember correctly.
