No.
In real life I'm nice and fake so everyone will like me.

Lol! Me too... ;))

Hmm...When i post on PS i'm trying to be very careful about how i express myself, because i don't want to insult anybody by mistake. I have noticed that things which are pretty alright and polite to say IRL, could be taken the wrong way online, because people can't see your expression and understand that you mean well.
There's definitely one thing though that is different about me on PS: There are things that people do and write, that make me VERY angry, but i shut up, because i'm not in the mood to get into fights on the internet. I do a lot of "fighting" every day in court, so better if i keep that out of my PS experience ;))

Naty, this is definitely true. I once said something on PS that IRL would have been A-OK for sure and someone here took exception. Honestly, I was rolling my eyes at her post but I was polite and nice here because I truly don't want to upset anyone. I will say it was a total overreaction at a harmless comment that this poster chose to take the wrong way when it was evident it was not intended that way at all. I mean, maybe she was looking for an argument or wanted to stir the pot but she wasn't going to get that reaction from me lol. I don't come here to fight, rather, to enjoy some bling and perhaps some intelligent discussion on other issues. And if I have to disagree with someone that's OK but I will not start an argument for argument's sake if you kwim.

No. :nono:

In RL I can't say the nice things that I'm thinking, people (especially women my age) freak out. If you give someone a compliment, they instantly look suspicious. I can be a lot more affectionate here, and tell people that I like them or what they did, and it's more my actual self. If I could express that affection in RL, I would. But everyone is so guarded, it's kinda sad. I find WASP women are especially uptight, my black and brown friends are more relaxed.

Any ideas as to why that is?

In RL people also don't seem to have much of a sense of humor. It's hard to tease them. My sense of humor is offbeat, which also doesn't play well in RL, past your 20's.

So, if you met me in RL, you would find a stiff, quieter woman, with a bemused expression, waiting for you to come out of your shell so that we can actually have some fun together. :appl:

I've met at least 50 PSers in person over my years here, and nearly all tell me the same thing.....

I'm just as direct IRL, but nearly all comment on how warm I am in person. I think that type of vibe is difficult to convey in the written word, and it's a flaw of written interaction to be sure.

yes i am

I may be shyer in person... Maybe... I dunno!

This thread is hard! (Said like Russell from UP)

PS gets the PG 13 version of me. :o
There are also threads that I won't touch with a barge pole because of my views on some things.
iLander, I can relate.

I'm also devastatingly gorgeous and thin. Online.

I think so. I believe Demelza told me I was exactly what she expected when we met. She is the only PSer I have met in person.

I am me wherever I am. I don't act much different online or IRL.

I'm pretty much the same deceptive I'm very cautious about anything I put in writing. I'm quite shy in social situations in person but I'm probably funnier in person also.

I met my now husband online and luckily when we met in person we were both pretty much the same, maybe a little more shy.

This is interesting to me, because my experience is the other way around: my sense of humor doesn't play well online, but IRL friends and family seem to enjoy my (very dry) sense of humor. We do a lot of laughing. Maybe certain types of humor translate better via the written word?

You know, I'm not sure. I think on PS I tend to tone things down, and get lazy about typing out my whole big stories (I love telling stories, but sometimes I just don't have the energy), plus I know my mom reads PS so I edit some stories and some reactions. IRL, I tend to be pretty loud and I have a big personality - I talk with my hands, I make faces, I crack jokes.

+1
I can be more direct and curt IRL.
And humor does not always translate, so I'm careful online.

I don't know, to be honest. I'm not conscious of being different online, but who knows? I try to be kind to people when I interact with them, and I like to laugh, both online and in real life.

I know a few PSers in real life, Susimoo, Rockdiamond and TGal - I get on well with them online and also in person, so I guess I'm probably not too different face to face? Maybe they'll be along to tell you otherwise ;))

Yes.

No.

Yes.

I don't know.

(the above commentary was in answer to the OP's question- not Jen W's analysis of herself.) :cheeky:

I agree with their assessment! :wavey:

I think I'm the same but it's hard for me to say.
