as online?

Definitely.

No.
In real life I'm nice and fake so everyone will like me.

I'm a bit more shy in person and probably a little more socially awkward too. :wink2:

I'm better at writing than talking. IRL I'm very much an introvert and it shows, but I talk a lot online.

For me no. My personality is forward and I usually don't care if I come off offensive. I speak before thinking so most of my friends know that while I mean it- I don't mean it in a bad way. However, this type of personality doesn't translate well on line. I actively try to be a bit nicer in my responses because I don't want people to think I'm having an atitude with them.

What can I say- it's the day job that rubs off a little too much.

Interesting question. I think the best people to answer that would be the ones who know me online and also in person. I have a hard time looking at myself and trying to decide how I really am... I like to hear what others think of me because I think I come off differently that what I intend to.... IRL, people are scared of me... they say I look too serious, snobbish, like I don't like them. Online... I dunno...I guess since you can't see any of my facial expressions, I come off as more friendly than IRL ;)

I would say yes.

I try to be myself on here but am far better at communicating IRL. I'm very extroverted, friendly and quick witted. Don't really think that comes across in my written responses. I've been wanting to start a similar thread more like: What makes you tick?

I'm curious who has taken the Meyer-Briggs personality test. I found the description of my results to be spot on so it's a great measure of what your real personality is like. I'm an ENFJ. Famous peeps with the same type as me: Oprah, Denzel Washington, Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon. Link to page about the test & celebrities types. http://www.celebritytypes.com/enfj.php

Astrology wise I'm a Gemini with Aquarius rising. Chinese Horoscope I'm a wood Dragon. Every description I read about any of these three personality predictors is spot on for me. I find it fascinating.

Maybe I'll start a new thread for sign, personality type & Chinese sign. Who wants to play?

Me! I'll play!

I'll play too!

In real life I'm about the same, but much more shy, if you don't know me well. If you do know me well I'll be quite blunt about my opinions.

IRL, I'm taller.

That sounds like an interesting thread; I hope you start it.

Am I the same type of person IRL as online? I have no idea, but probably not in an obvious way. IRL, I tend to be the one who friends tell all their troubles to, and am generally considered pretty empathetic. Online, I usually choose MB's and forums that are more fun and less personal in focus, so my interactions are more reserved.

She's me online.
He's me offline.

Seriously, I think I'm pretty much the same on or offline.

Pretty much. Less "I've got a pole up my *ss" - but I still probably come off that way to some IRL. DH says my internal contrast is dialed way up and everything's black and white and I just don't see the grey... I think that comes through in my posting too. Just as easily captivated by trivia ::)

I think I'm nicer and more cautious online. Words stick.

IRL women call me "shorty"... ;( :(sad

Yea, you can't usually infer my tone as well on here as you can in person though. So maybe more biting and sarcastic offline?

Yep, what you see is what you get.

Total aside -- this thread made me thing of the Brad Paisley song "Online." The lyrics on the screen don't do it justice, you have to listen to it!

I work down at The Pizza Pit
And I drive an old Hyundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I'm five foot three and overweight
I'm a sci: fi fanatic, mild asthmatic
Never been to second base
But there's a whole 'nother me
That you need to see
Go check out Myspace.

'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm six foot five and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati, I'm a black belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat
With two women at one time.

I'm so much cooler online
I'm so much cooler online.

I get home I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
I head down to my basement bedroom
And fire up my Mac
In real life the only time
I've ever even been to L.A.
Was when I got the chance with the marching band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade.

But online I live in Malibu
I pose for Calvin Klein
I've been in GQ
I'm single and I'm rich
And I got a set of six-pack abs that would blow your mind
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat
With two women at one time.

I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online.

When you've got my kind of stats
It's hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot and lose a bunch of weight
Every time I log in.

Online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm six foot five and I look damn good
Even on a slow day I can have a three-way chat
With two women at one time.

I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online
I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online.

I'm pretty much the same online, except I don't bitch as much as I do IRL. I'm also thinner online.

I think so but I don't chat so much about jewelry IRL. Though if you ask anyone who knows me IRL they for sure know I *l  ve* jewelry haha. So they do know I am jewelry obsessed. However I don't go to the extremes I do on PS regarding jewelry chat.

DeeJay-love those lyrics. Thanks for sharing them!

I think I am, yeah! I've met a lot of PSers IRL, and I imagine they would probably know better than I would. :cheeky:

methink that you are a conservative IRL...

I filter what I say here on PS much more than irl to avoid offending other members. I think I still get my points across, but I am more careful online because I understand more now the fact that things can be misconstrued due to the lack of body language, tone of voice, etc.

I haven't met a ton of Pricescope members in person, but the few I have met seem not much different from their online personas. Dee*Jay is funny here, and even funnier in person. Skippy is sweetness and light here, perhaps a bit more candid in person but never less than refined, to name a couple. I've never been disappointed after meeting a PS'r. I've had nothing but good experiences.

Indecisive, anxious? Yes. Quiet, stay away from conflict? Yes.

I don't know. The way I perceive myself may be different than how people perceive me.

Yes. What's the point in being fake?

Well, since I'm not even close to being the person I'm imagined to be, here on PS, how would anyone recognize me . . . IRL?

Holly, you'd be recognized for being real. Whether peoples opinions are the same or very different than yours, real is always good.

I am pretty much the same in real life as I am on PS.

DF, how about you? Do you stir the pot at home, or just on your fav forums? :wink2:

I'm way more quiet and cautious with words online...which is really strange now that I think about it. Not to say that I go around telling ppl off in real life but I definitely speak my mind and I'm more outgoing in the real world.

Eta: I think I'm quieter online because there's a part of me that doesn't 'get' online culture...yet. It's still a bit weird to me and I'm still learning all the acronyms!
