Peridots - Real or Memorex?

Newby here, first post.

I have long been interested in various crystals and gems, but until now it has consisted of finding them on my own. I have often seen nice olivine in the wild, but I wanted to get some peridot online. i just got two cut peridot that came from India, and now I wonder if I got taken. They are large stones, 10 ct and 95 ct, and cost me less than $20 each, which should probably have been a red flag. They show zero birefringence and I can see no inclusions under magnification. Attached are pictures in natural light



and under fluorescent lighting.




Sorry about the picture quality, that's the best I can get for now.
One came with a lab cert, which I now think is most likely not real because when I tried to read the QR code I was taken to a spam website that wanted me to download an antivirus app to protect against a hack that they supposedly detected. Yeah, right. Don't try it yourselves.


What do you think? Did I get taken? I used paypal, so it won't be a problem for me to get a refund.

My guess is that it isn't peridot and instead is some kind of synthetic material

I don't put much, if any, faith in those types of certs. I read this one as "OMG" Testing. (My brain is weird...)

The material doesn't look natural to me. At least you didn't pay much, although giving any money to these people is frustrating.

I have long held a jaded view toward such certs. It comes from my experience seeing a lot of Clovis points for sale that came with certs. Considering that only about 10,000 Clovis points have been found, and thousands of certs come out each year...you do the math.

Sorry, wrong tone / hue for peridot.
And those type of lab certificates are as fake as the gems they accompany. My guess would be synthetic quartz.
Peridot isn’t overly expensive but stick to known and reputable vendors.

Looks too dark to be peridot, (not that I’m an expert). It does look rather glassy.
