Hi everyone. Thank you all in advance for your help.

I was hoping to get some guidance on carat size and how large the diamond is perveived to be. Obviously a 1.0ct stone will look smaller than a 1.5ct stone, but at what point does paying for the extra weight become a waste? For example, I am looking at two stones:

1.12ct (6.69mm x 6.73mm x 4.05mm) 60.4% Depth 59% Table

1.20ct (6.80mm x 6.85mm x 4.23mm) 62.4% Depth 56% Table

Both stones are the same color and clarity ( H, SI1 "eye clean") and both score an HCA value of 1.9, but the larger stone is almost $1000 more. Is it worth it to get the larger stone, or will they look pretty much the same size once set.

Thanks again.

You pay for carat, not size in diameter, and stone 2 is deep meaning it is skinny and tall compared to 1st which is relatively short and fat. If you find both with about 60.4% depth, the difference will be a bit more obvious. Also the polish symmetry and the cut play a huge role on the price

We need more info to be able to help, can you post the crown and pavillion angles please and the girdle measurement or thickness?

No, I wouldn''t pay for that little bit of visual difference. In stones at 1 ct. and up, this amount of spread, especialy when mounted, won''t make a thousand dollar difference.

The difference between the 2 stones is minimal. Even though the carat weights look quite different, stone 2 looks almost the same size as stone 1 because stone 2 is deeper. I don't feel $1k is worth it for a 0.1mm difference.

Stone #1 has a largeish table, so before choosing that one necessarily unless you have seen it and love it, the other info would be useful for the angles etc, as you can probably find some tighter cut diamonds instead.

Thank you all for your help so far. Here is the rest of the information on these two stones:

1.12ct, H, SI1, Girdle M-STK, VG Pol, VG Sym, Depth 60.4%, Table 59%, Crwn Ang 35deg, Pav Ang 40.8deg ~$4820

1.21ct, H, SI1, Girdle TN-STK, VG Pol, VG Sym, Depth 62.4%, Table 56%, Crwn Ang 34.5deg, Pav Ang 41deg ~$5580

another option:

1.15ct, H, SI1, Girdle M-STK, VG Pol, EX Sym, Depth 61.1%, Tale 56%, Crwn Ang 34.5deg, Pav Ang 40.5deg ~$4950

I got HCA numbers on the first two both at 1.9. The third one I got an HCA of 0.4, which I was told can be bad sometimes. All three stone are claimed to be "eye clean". They are all GIA certified. What do you think of these three stones?

I would not dismiss the 3rd option. There is nothing wrong with a stone HCA of 0.4; just a bit of darkening observed when your head blocks the light as you view the diamond. Do you have any idealscopes to back up the HCA? This will make it easier to choose between these 3 options.

These diamonds are online. Should I ask if they have idealscope images? Has anyone gotten anything from Cut Rate Diamonds before? Do you know if they are trustworthy? The name scared me at first, but after I talked to their sales associates they seemed legit.

I have never dealt with CRD. It wouldn''t hurt to ask for Idealscope pictures. At worst, they can say they don''t have the tool to do so.
