Hi
I have a freshwater pendant - where the pendant setting snapped off (long story  ) and the metal is still in the pearl - can this be salvaged? can i send it to a vendor to remove the metal pin/rod and put a new setting in??

I really have no idea if it is possible and how they would even get it out :wall: :wall: oh dear...

many thanks

They may be able to remove the metal or just drill right next to it and glue a new repaired pin next to it. Depending on the setting you probably will never be able to see it once it's repaired.

Sometimes it can be drilled out. Talk to your jeweler.

Some pearl findings look almost set up to break off. No support where the peg goes into the pearl and flex flex flex snap.
Consider whether the pearl is worth paying for a rescue mission - and, at that, if you approach an ordinary local jeweller likely as not they will not have the expertise to extract or circumvent the pin. It's actually fairly straightforward to drill out a metal peg if it goes as it should, but, of course, that is a big 'if'
