Hi everyone-

I decided to have 1.04 ct bezel pendant re-set into a 3 prong martini setting. I also want to set a .53ct and a .22ct into the same 3 prong martini. I'm going for a layered look so all three will be different lengths.

Have a few questions though.. My 1.04 is an ideal cut h&a from GOG, my .53 is an expert selection WF stone. My .22 though.. well, it's in an antique cushion. The little guy is a fireball but will it look dumb to layer it with the other two?

Am also wondering who makes the nicest platinum martini setting?
By that I mean small "bunny" ears and delicate prongs. Big "ears" on a .22 would deter from the diamond. Plus, I just hate how it looks.

All pics appreciated too.

Thanks guys.

Do you mean 3 stones set on one pendant?

Hi
No, I mean three different pendants. One 18", one 17" and one 16"
Sorry if I wasn't clear.

BGD for the platinum martini. I THINK they have a handmade one. As for the cushion. No. I don't think so. I think it will be fine. But .22's aren't crazy expensive. If it bothers you, you can get a MRB. http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.236-g-si1-round-diamond-ags-104062070146

If you want to do something with the cushion down the line.

Hi, Gypsy

Thanks for the reply. I checked the link for the .23 and it does look good. Wondering why it's 100 bucks cheaper than all the other G, H SI for the same size? Weird.

Also checked out their pendants. The "ears" look big, but it could just be the pic. Difficult to say.
I'm sending an email today asking about the handmade option you mentioned. If the do have one, maybe they'll have pictures.

Anyone else? I'd like to have a few options. (WF is out unless they got a new bench person in the last few years).

I have tried to wear 2 pendants with different length chains and within a very short time they get all twisted around each other.

I know you said not WF. But if you look at their photos of the Martini Pendant you will see the attachment loops are angled so they look like a link of the chain and not like Mickey Mouse ears. I bought this one for that exact reason.

Hi Swingirl-

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have any pics of your pendants? I would love to see the prongs and "ears".

I know what you mean about getting twisted, it happens to me sometimes when I layer as well. But I don't mind too much and I just untangle every now and then.

This is my pendant from WF. You cannot see the attachments as they blend in with the chain.

This isn't a very good photo. Both pendants are crocked and not laying straight. I had WF make both of these. For the bezel I asked for small attachment loops. They are close the the size of the links on the chain. I would guess any jeweler could make that adjustment for you.

Hi swingirl - I like your martini pendant. Is it "stationary" on the chain or does it slide on the chain?

Martini pendant is stationary. It has 2 attachment loops that coincide with 2 of the prongs. I looked for a setting where the loops were not noticeable.

Thanks for the pics, Swingirl.

I love your martini setting. Can't even see the loops. Guess the angling works.
WF is back on my list. Just wish they didn't charge about $200 more than BG (for platinum). For three settings it's gonna add up if I go with them.

Your bezel looks just like mine. Which do you like better? Bezel or martini?
I went for bezel because my 1ct is a K color stone. I thought covering the sides was the way to go with lower color diamonds. Kind of regret it now though.

Hi elle chris! :wavey:

I have a 2-carat RB currently in a WF martini setting. Here are a few pictures.

Diamond%20Botanical5_1.jpg

My WF setting does not have enormous loops. However, I found that my necklace would travel around my neck and the diamond would flip. I'd often catch myself in a mirror and the diamond would be at 4-5 o'clock or 7-8 o'clock and flipped over.

I think this may have had something to do with the fact that the martini does not have a flat back and it doesn't slide. If you really want a martini, maybe consider the BGD Barbara Martini: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond-pendants/barbara-martini-18k-white-gold-5772w18

I'm currently re-setting with WF. Just curious - why do you feel WF needs a new bench person?

Hiya Starryeyed :wavey:

Beautiful pendant. I've always loved it.

My statement about their bench sounded harsher that I intended it to.

It's just that in the past, I haven't loved the way they did prongs. Especially on my 5 stone ring. They were just too thick.
Also, I had them make my mom a pear pendant. Initially, I wanted to do a halo but their bench wouldn't. Said that a half carat pear was too small and would get lost. But I've seen many half carat stones since then that are halo set, and just gorgeous. The diamond does not get lost.

I just got the impression he can't do delicate work.

But after seeing the pendants here, I guess I'm wrong? Could of been just my own experience?

Either way, they were one of the vendors I contacted this morning. Will see what they say.

Just received an email from WF. They are out. I just don't seem to have any luck working with them on jewelry. Diamonds, yes..
jewelry no.

Waiting for others to respond. But I may just go to the Diamond District this week and see what they can do.

Oh, that's too bad about WF. I've had good experiences with them over the years.

If you can find a good bench person local to you that might be easier - someone who can in-person show you different chain styles and widths, attachment loop sizes, clasps, etc. You may have more control over the finished product and be happier in the end.

ETA: THANK YOU!!! I'm re-setting it, so I hope you can gain some insight from some of my experiences.

ElleChris, three pendants layered together is a great look. Different sizes and shapes should make it more interesting IMO. Giada on food network wears a similar look bit hers might be same size. Here's a pic.

You're welcome :) What are you re-setting it into? Another pendant? Because the one you have now is absolutely perfect I think.

Hiya baby monster :wavey:

Yeah, I love the way hers look too. I think Giada's are Tiffany's DBTY's though. The looks will definitely be similar, except mine won't be bezels.

I'm just re-doing the pendant. I found that the chains got all twisted and the diamond traveled up my neck and flipped frequently. The new chain will be a single thicker chain (rather than the double chain) with the leftover melee from another project sprinkled in.

Here is my thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/help-me-re-set-my-2-carat-aca-rb-diamond-pendant.202191/

WF has the pendant now and we are working on the new CADs. I think a flat back and the ability to slide help the problems I've been having.
