Hello,

I am new to Pricescope and I am here looking for help picking out a pendant for my wife. This will be to celebrate a HUGE professional milestone. I am a little pressed for time, as I'd like to give it to her in about two weeks (so custom fabrication is probably not an option).

She saw this pendant on Instagram and liked it-

https://jewelsbygrace.smugmug.com/Custom-Work/67ct-Transitional-Cut-Diamond-Pendant-Clover-Setting/

I know she prefers round cut for pendants.

What do folks think about that pendant? Where might I look for similar options? I have looked at Brian Gavin, but I don't know if there is time to order from them. Further, a comparable stone from BG is as much as that pendant *before* the setting is added in.

Thanks!!

it looks lovely, it's a transitional diamond, my mom had a trans. it will sparkle with rainbow colors. Congratulations on your wife's milestone! and best of luck.

What a thoughtful gesture. You mentioned she likes round diamonds, do you know if she likes them in a setting of a different shape, such as that clover style? You looked at BG, did you look at WF? To set a diamond in a standard setting their site says to allow 6 business days. If you feel pressed for time you could order something and put a pic in a card with a note that it is being specially made for her and will arrive soon to give yourself a little more shopping time. I have not used ID Jewelry but have seen a lot of positive comments here about their customer service so they may be able to meet your deadline.

Great gift idea for a huge accomplishment! Congrats to your wife and family! :clap:If you are going with something such as a simple bezel or prong setting, most vendors should be able to meet your deadline. Also, with pendants, you can definitely open the range of color/clarity a bit (ideal cuts of course), don't need a D/E colored pendant unless absolutely necessary:) Happy hunting!

What's your budget? That will help us find some options.

Known vendor and GIA certified. They are a brick&mortor in Chicago. Assuming these are in budget, I would ask them to put these three in a video line-up and post that here. Natural light and also each one on a hand.

Inquire about your timeline for setting and delivery.

Hi kgizo,

Thanks for your reply!

We talked about pendants over a year ago, and she was interested in 3-4 pronged settings. The notion of a clover setting hadn't come up until she mentioned liking that one from Instagram. I realize preference is personal, but are there specific concerns to be aware of when considering a clover setting? Does it allow more or less light in than a 3-4 prong?

What is "WF" and "ID"?

Thanks!

Thanks again! Those look like pretty good options. I'll reach out to the seller.

If she has already said she likes then I would go with it, most likely it was a hint lol

Hi Katie,

Thanks for your reply! How far up the color scale does one dare go with a pendant? I think D/E is outside my price range- but I was thinking H/I. I was also just looking at some diamonds on Brian Gavin that are K VS2. Like this-

Congratulations to your wife on her wonderful accomplishment! :appl:
What a lovely idea to recognize her achievement with a piece of jewellery.

"WF" refers to Whiteflash
This link takes you to the pendants section of their website; diamonds are listed under a different section.
If you go with WF, please note that you can sign up for their emails and get $25 off your first purchase.
If you go with a different vendor, check to see if there is a similar discount from which you can benefit.

Bad pic, in car, bumpy roads

Please make a point of looking at this one E.B. linked you to above - it seems to hit all your bases and is available right now. Jewels by Grace is a very trusted and respected Pricescope vendor:

http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/0-67ct-transitional-cut-diamond-pendant-clover-setting

It's also closer to a 3 or 4 prong setting, if your wife favors a more simple style.

Good luck!

I hate to muddy the waters but wasn't there just a thread about the accuracy of grade estimates of JbG uncerted stones?

I'll leave the advice to the others, just wanted to say I like your user name

Whitewave's Ivy& Rose and MyDiamondZone on ebay are the same company.

I would either get the clover setting from Grace that you know she likes or get the G VS2 from Illya at My Diamond Zone (if you're concerned about accuracy of color on Grace's uncerted stone). I'm guessing Illya will be able to to put into a simple 3 or 4 prong setting very quickly and get it to you within your time limit.

As a vendor, I am not going to comment on which diamond or mounting to get, other than to say you can get an inexpensive mounting from Stuller, Roseco, Unique settings or one of the other findings houses from just about any retailer to mount your chosen diamond with the thought that SHE can have it then reset into the mounting of her choice.

My main reason for responding is to address the comment marked in red above.

The vast majority of light that you are seeing from a diamond enters the top of the diamond, reflects within the diamond and then refracts back out the top to be enjoyed by your eyes. The better the cut of the diamond, the more light returning to your eyes. So, as long as the clover setting is not covering the top of the diamond, it will not affect the amount of light getting into and coming out of your diamond.

Wink

The MyDiamondZone/IvyRose posted were are GIA stones...and many of Graces are as well.

Good lord....
Yeah :(2. Hopefully nothing like that will happen again, but it's good for people to be aware of, both for experience as well as the reasons why buying a certified stone absolutely has its benefits.

OP
I received an email from BE, they are having a sale now on what you might like.
Good luck

I love the clover setting. I've seen it in person . I suggest asking Grace if she can hold your credit card and send that necklace to an independent appraiser of your choice. That way you can verify what you are getting.
