Pearl projects anyone?

So.. Pearls has been kind of slow lately so I wanted to see what everyone else has going on!!

I haven't bought pearls since may and it's killing me. I am saving for the wedding (12 weeks!) but the other day I went and had my ears re-pierced (after getting them fixed). I am going to wait a bit to make sure they are going to be healed in time for the wedding before getting earrings, but I am dying for some dangly pearl earrings!


So... what kind of things does everyone else have going on??

I MUST finish up a ring project before getting any more pearls.

I still didn't get a chance to have my sister-in-laws SS pearls made into earrings. I'm leaving the 25th and decided to go local at this point. Am hitting the DD district in nyc Friday. OMG, totally dreading it that place.

I am usually going for the akoya and Tahitian but I really want a freshwater pearl ring like this one. I emailed pearl paradise to ask if they can make it again but it is the only one for custom design and they said the pearls really special one. I also email museum way pearl and pure pearl to see if they can find a pearl like this one. It is LUST I know. Not a project yet.

I recently bought a natural abalone pearl from Moana Natural Paua Pearl (www.nzpearl.co.nz) for my husband. It's about 28mm high, 23mm wide and 7mm deep at the thickest part. I took it to PP at the Ruckus 2010 and had the same jeweler that made the above ring to put some gold on it. My husband is smitten with this pearl. I am too and plan to borrow it sometimes. Here are photos of the work-in-progress (finished piece had minor change from wax model), front and back of the finished piece.

i'd wear that pearl horn! it would go wonderful with my silver sandollar! nice!

It's beautiful! What side is for the front or is it both can?

Hi,
The front is the middle picture. Although the back can be worn too, but the pointy bottom doesn't lie flat on the chest. It sticks out a little bit and leave a little gap between the chest and itself, slightly larger than 1/4". So it's versatile.

In other news, I just ordered some findings for wedding earrings I am not sure what kind of pearls to go with, so I thought I'd ask the lovely ladies here once I get them

HHPMom I was so inspired by your drop pearl pendent at the Ruckus I got one of Cathys a large dark Komoka drops. I am just waiting to talk to Jeremy next week about the bale or maybe an enhancer with diamonds. I am also going to have my souflfle pearl set with and enhancer bale to wear on the ice pink exotic strand. When they are finished I will have to figure out how to post pictures. Love your new bracelet.

I had a son on June 11 so as a push present my DH is getting me a pendant/necklace in pearl and diamond, I haven't found anything I like and cant seem to design anything. But I want something in diamonds and then a south sea pearl drop. Can anyone suggest any sites for inspiration

Here is my project...

I ordered them from TPO- they always have the fastest shipping. Placed my order really late thursday (probably 10 minutes before they closed) and it was sent thursday... I got it today! I think after I ordered... there might have been different carat weights available, because this does not look as big as what I was picturing... regardless, I do like the settings but they remind me of costume jewelry. That might change once I get pearls on them!

1) Just the findings.

2) I didn't have a round pearl next to me while taking these so I grabbed a tahitian for an example of something round.

3) just drops? The pearls are not high quality, so that might have something to do it. I was imagining doing some nice freshadamas in these settings.. but I almost don't want to put anything TOO nice in these because they seem so fake.. I dunno??


Anyone? I'm still going to keep the findings though so I will put something on them! I just wanted something a little different.. hmmm..

ETA: OK that was weird.. these were all going the right way (and still are that way on my desktop)... I wonder why they turned... hmm..

Blah now the "loose pearls" and "clasps" section of Pearl Paradise isn't working! Maybe I broke it from looking too much earlier...

Bean, I like the drops vs the round! They just have a nice flow you know? If you do the drop is this the color you are thinking? Very pretty.

You're the second person that liked the drops vs the round! I like them too!

I am thinking of doing white if I keep them for wedding earrings, if not, and I pick something else for that I think I might do a color on them.

Pearls are such a learning curve!

Not sure why you say they may look costume. Did you purchase them as findings on TPO's website? I think either way, round or drop, they look nice.

I noticed that PP's website is not functioning properly last night. Most pages direct you back to the main page, not just loose pearls and findings.

It might be because there were no peals on them I"m not sure.. they just felt very light!!

Anyway, yes I got them from TPO.. I had to call them to order them though. I think most findings can be ordered.

I hope PP site is fixed soon!
