Pear wedding set: facing point up or point down?

I received this gorgeous ring today. It’s exactly what I needed to break the RB rut I’ve been in. It feels huge and it sparkles like crazy with beautiful contrast and no bow tie. It was $3,920 at Ritani and $4,777 at JA. With a ton of research, Ritani price matched at $1,920. I totally didn’t expect them to and was thrilled. The specs are 2.15 E VS1, HPHT with “ideal” pear proportions. It has either somewhere between 1.50-1.55 ratio, just can’t remember off the top of my head.

The only question remains: does it look better point up or point down?

Team #PointUP, the other way just feels all wrong somehow (this is, of course, 100% just my personal feeling/opinion).

Your ring is gorgeous and looks beautiful on your hand @Runningmama. How you wear it is personal preference. I prefer the point facing upward.

I have responded in the other thread with a poll.

IMHO, it depends on the ring design and setting.

I would love to get 2ct+ pink red pear Spinel from Gary of Finewater Gems and have it set in a Chaumet-inspired Josephine setting with the pear set pointing towards the hand.

However, for OP's ring, I voted for the point to point outwards.

I voted in your poll thread point up, but than I went to my jewelry box, took out my pear cut ring - a much smaller yellow diamond - and I realized I always wear it point down. I’m not sorry for my vote, because I like your ring on your hand point up more, but it’s interesting how the viewing point can change our opinion.

It is beautiful! I too prefer point up but the beauty is, you can wear it both ways!!
