Hello, all! Long-time lurker, finally posting. :)

My husband and I are talking about creating a new e-ring for our 10th anniversary (granted, still 4.5 years away  ). We got engaged right out of college with a 0.7 OEC VS2.

My dad was a diamond and gemstone guru whose favorite hobby was hand-selecting stones and designing pieces for my mom (lucky lady!), but he passed away 12 years ago and I never got to pick his brain about the process. I'm hoping you guys can help.

I love, love 3-stone rings with longer cuts in the center (pears, emeralds, ovals). My dream ring is something along these lines:

My finger is pretty tiny (4.75), and I know pears face up large.

So, my questions:

1) I don't want a center stone larger than 2 carats. I'm pretty positive the center stone in that photo is larger than 2 carats, but I love the proportions on the center to sides. If a center stone were 1.5 or 1.75 or 2 carats, what might be ballpark side stone carats to consider?

2) What are good pear vendors? I looked on White Flash after seeing it mentioned so much here, but they don't seem to sell pears (at least not in the color or clarity range I'm hoping for).

3) Any other suggestions about creating rings in general, or pears, or 3-stones would be lovely! :)

Thanks in advance!

Here is a size comparisons between a default size 1.5 pear and a .5 pear (side stone). Do you think the .5 is too big? I can make it
using a .4 or .45 if you would like.

2. James Allen has a good selection of pears. Whoever you get to make the setting usually helps with side stones.

3. Who are you planning on making the setting. I think you are going to need to go custom...who to go with would depend on your
budget for the setting.
