Pear shaped diamond choice

Hi. So I'm looking at buying an engagement ring with a pear shaped diamond centre stone (around 1 to 1.3ct) with a white gold band or maybe a half pave setting like this one: but all in white gold.

I have shortlisted a few diamonds and have just recently got a video of my first shortlist.
Any thoughts on this and whether its a good choice would be helpful! Thanks
Here is the link

I think I prefer option 2 but without having more details its difficult to say. Color, LxW, cost etc. Both look to have a lovely shape.

One of the main things I look for are when the stone turns is that more nice facets (well defined) show up down towards the pointed end.
The more the round end is cut like a round brilliant the better the light return will be. Unfortunately, this usually happens in mostly fatter, shorter
pears which is not what most people are looking for.

Can you post more detail?

This is what I like to see as far as nice facets in a pear. (examples)
This one has some nice facets down towards the pointed in.

Thank you for the response! I'm not sure what to say about the facets because I don't know much, sorry.

However I will provide some more details that I have:

Option 1 is 1.3ct, colour I, clarity VVS2, symmetry and polish excellent
Dimensions 9.12 x 6.05 x 3.82
Certificate here: https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=6352189439
This is about $6,000

Option 2 is 1.29ct, colour J, clarity VVS2, symmetry and polish excellent
Dimensions 9.23x6.10x3.77
Certificate here: https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=2211074066
This is about $5,000

I now have a third option
Option 3 is 1.2ct, colour H, clarity VS1, symmetry and polish excellent
Dimensions 10.12 x 5.99 x 3.24
Certificate here: https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=2357762557
This is about $5,300

the video of that H is awful. Basically all you get to see is the backside of the stone. I really cant comment on it because it just doesnt show
the front of the stone long enough.

Since the stone is going in to a white gold setting I would shy away from the J. Usually "I" is the lowest I would recommend in a pear unless perhaps
you are going with yellow or rose gold and dont mind a little tint.

I think I just found the H on blue nile...not loving it

Edit...just found the J on blue nile also

Couldnt find the "I" though

Just found a better video of the "I" at JA

So,
I think the J is the best cut, then the I followed by the H. The I and J seem close to me as far as cut though. The H is somewhat static. Not
a lot of facets flashing on/off.

Wow thank you @tyty333
I'm in India so I had no idea these would even be available on blue Nile and JA (though I have spent a long time on these websites)

I think this is the I
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/pear-shaped/1.30-carat-i-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-8956043 though when I asked JA for the certificate, they took off the GIA registration number so can't confirm for sure

The video of this I seems very diferent to the one I shared, at least in my untrained eyes!

I know you mentioned you wouldn't recommend a J for a white gold setting but to me this J doesn't look very different from the H or I in terms of colour - is it just me?

After seeing your videos (thank you for that), would you recommend the I is the best bet?

Thanks! As you can see above @tyty333 has found better videos of these on JA and blue Nile so here they are:

1. Option 1: 1.3 I https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/pear-shaped/1.30-carat-i-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-8956043
2. Option 2: 1.29 J https://goto.bluenile.com/c/1348290...track=viewDiamondDetails&catalogView=true
3. Option 3: 1.2 H https://goto.bluenile.com/c/1348290...track=viewDiamondDetails&catalogView=true

@TSe

thanks for the improved video clips.

of the 3 diamonds, in terms of cut, i favor the j color vvs 1.29

to my eyes, its the best cut, of the 3 options

Would you suggest I also ask for more options?
The way it works here is that they have a database of diamonds where I can see the specs and the certificate but only when I shortlist can I ask for the video, which they arrange separately:

So there's a link to the database where I can search and filter through for specifications:

Thank you for this! Do you think J is too low on the colour scale for a white gold/platinum setting though?

colour is super personal. its best to trust your eyes and what pleases you.

but i will say that modern pears tend to concentrate color at the tips. so that is as aspect, to be aware of

for a j color pear, i would likely set it in yellow or rose gold to harmonize the j color with the surrounding metal rather than clash with a white metal, like platinum.

also...

if you have more options to look at, i think its always good to look at as many as possible...

you get to understand what type of pear cut diamonds that you favour

Yes! This one looks to have some really nice facets going through the center and of course the color is high so not an issue. This is my
favorite so far.

Edit...sorry...posted the wrong link to the "I" above. Here it is. The E is the nicest though

Should I not be concerned that clarity is SI1 though?

As long as its eye-clean it should be fine. Ask JA to make sure it is eye-clean. Also, get the GIA report and post so we can see what the inclusions are.

Edit
Here is a relative look at the 1.3 E on a size 6 finger with a 2mm shank.

really really GORGEOUS pear! very lively! nicely cut modern pear! no need to be concerned with color concentrating at the tip. @TSe , you can set in any color metal you'd like!

ask james allen gemologist if it is eye clean. if so, then have the stone sent to you to make sure it is also eye clean to you, which is THE MOST important.

so excited for you and your bright bright modern pear cut!

i favor option 6, only because i prefer a chubbier modern pear cut

i like the proportions the most, of the 3 to choose from

I prefer this one. The "mushy" area (down by the point) looks quite brilliant compared to most pears.
