Hi, Im new to the boards, and I am in the market for a good pear diamond, we have 2 found...but my concern is the bow-tie effect.....so can I see some of your pretty rings, and help me feel at ease about purchasing a pear.....

the two im looking at are:
Carat weight: 0.27
Cut: Very Good
Color: E
Clarity: VVS1
Depth %: 59.8%
Table %: 62%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Slightly Thick to Very Thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.43 x 3.69 x 2.21 mm
Length/width ratio: 1.47

the second one is:
Carat weight: 0.30
Cut: Very Good
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Depth %: 62.6%
Table %: 58%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Very Thick to Extremely Thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.59 x 3.73 x 2.34 mm
Length/width ratio: 1.5

unfortunately I don't have pictures....but they are blue nile diamonds....so im nervous going site unseen....but ive heard nothing but good about their diamonds.....both are GIA certified....just wanting to see some pretty pear rings!
thanks!

I like the smaller table of the second one. What is your budget?
It is not possible to tell the faceting without a picture. Did you look on
James Allen? They have pictures.

Here is a larger one the looks nice for $433. It is a higher color and clarity than the H and also faces up larger.
I'm partial to the fat pears...LOL!

Hi, we would ideally like to stay under$700....for the diamond.....ive been searching james allen and blue nile....that one is very good looking....im still hoping to see around lie a 0.3 carat
thank you very much for the reply....

If you have time to search a little I would see if you can find any used ones. Pears aren't as popular anymore you might be able to get a second hand pear to really maximize your budget. If you go over and post a WTB (Want to buy) over in the preloved section or at diamond bistro you might get some good results :wavey:

Hopefully some of the better hunters here might be able to did you an eBay

here is mine. Ive been going though a love hate thing with it the last few days because pears don't sparkle like RBs do. But today I am totally in love with it. And I would never trade it. The shape is to die for. Which is why you really have to see the stone in person ( or photos) specs don't mean much.
Also why I like it in a bezel. Really keeps the shape well. Have you looked at the other pear threads? What is your budget for the whole ring?

Bow tie is a funny thing. It's really important to see the pear in order to judge the effect and to move the stone around. IME all pear shapes have some degree of bow tie at certain angles. A shallower cut pear will have less bow tie and less sparkle as well. So it's really a balancing act. You also want to see the stone to judge if you like the shape; pear cuts can really vary. I don't like spiky thin pears...they look like small weapons to me. And I don't like pears that are too wide at the bottom; they just look wrong.

thank you everyone for replying.....I have done several ebay searches...but most seem shady and were really poor quality....a few didn't even look real, ive been having most luck with jamesallen and blue nile....I will defenitly check out some of the other boards....I haven't given up faith....im just more of a see it first type girl....and I am having the worst time finding ones to view in person....the big ones are lovely but just not my style....and I always feel guilty about asking a jeweler to order some in for me to see if I know I have no idea if I would buy it from them or not.....also im really nervous about the bow-tie effect....

my budget for the whole ring is ideally under 1400 maximum....our setting is roughly $640....

What does the setting look like? I really like that one pear I posted you? You don't like that one though?

My pear has a bowtie, but not a significant one.

I love my pear!

It's .75 ct, VS1, and H color (size 5 ring).

If your budget is $700 then why would you buy a stone that is .3c when you can afford a much larger stone? Anyone can make that setting for you, so I wouldn't get a stone from BN sight unseen just because you like that setting. You need a picture at least and an ASET too to see how much leakage is in the stone. JA will provide you with several ASETS on stones that fit your budget.

I would try and contact ID jewelry, they are good on a budget Ive heard and theywould probably be able to get you a setting just like that and source you the stone. I dont know if I would go that low on the stone. Pears show a lot more color than rounds.

Thanks everyone! were defenitly looking into a lot of different options! everyone has had such great links!
