I am thinking about getting a pear pendant. I love the clean, crisp, and elegant look of a simple prong setting. Unfortunately, my budget is limited, and I cannot get a large pear. The largest possible pear diamond I can get will fit in a small 10x7mm frame, which I think will look too tiny compared to the rest of the necklace. One solution is to get a halo setting, which will boost the size of my pendant to 12.5x9mm (perfect size in my opinion). Other than extra cost, I am not sure if the halo look will be too busy.
Please help me decide by voting and proviiding comments.
BTW - No bezel for my pear.
Photo 1 - No halo. Prong set pear.
I prefer to see more diamond and less metal. Besides, the bezel will cover part of the real-estate of an already tiny pear.Date: 11/19/2009 6:46:07 PM

What about a bezel instead of a halo?
These are extremely good suggestions. Thanks! Yes, I plan to have at least one melee leading to the pear pendant.Date: 11/19/2009 7:30:28 PM

What about something like this...

I voted no on halo for a necklace because I dont usually like them unless they have other diamonds leading down
to the haloed diamond...just something about going from a thin chain to a big halo.
I cant find a good pear example that I like (with added diamonds). I admit that this is a little too much but what
I like is the diamonds leading up to the haloed stone.

Edit - I''m looking for some more examples
There are a couple that I think are pretty on this thread

Thank you so, so much for providing these great visual aids. I find them extremely helpful. They have helped eliminate my worry about the size of my pear.Date: 11/19/2009 7:37:47 PM

Here''s a pic of the 1/3 ct pear next to my 1/2 ct rb pendant, just so you can compare shape sizes:
I found the photo from one of the threads here on PS. Don''t know which link. You see, I always make a copy of whatever I find interesting, drool over the photos from time to time, and delete them when I lose interest. This particular photo has been in my folder for a long time, so you know I really love it.Date: 11/19/2009 7:57:34 PM

I vote no halo. Where did photo #1 come from FD? I love that necklace and would like to see more pictures of it.
