Anyone own this setting?

If so can someone post some of their photos?

Also I would appreciate any opinions on this setting.

Thanks

Hmmm....I have to say that I don''t care for the combination of bezel set pears and prong set center stone.

I would prefer to see the pears prong set in a delicate ring like this.

sorry Patty but I don''t see any picture

did you attach one?

If you look closely, they are not pear shaped diamonds at all - they are 4 small rounds, 2 on each side, pave set into pear shaped metal.

On first glance, I missed that they were rounds too!!! I wonder if it is more obvious in person. I like bezel-set pears alot.

The bezel makes it look like it''s a pear, but you can clearly see that they are rounds. See my avatar for a pic.

FWIW, I have seen (maybe) this one in person - it was either this pear look or the baguette look (also with 4 small rounds, but in "baguette" style metal). I personally didn''t care for them - I don''t think they looked as nice as the true pear or baguette they were meant to imitate. I have the Vatche 3 stone with round center and baguette sides (real baguettes, not the rounds), and I love it. The difference in quality of appearance between the "real thing" and the round imitators, even within Vatche''s line, was astounding (to me), and it was worth the extra money to get the real baguettes.

Have never seen it in person, and not a huge fan of the picture. My feeling is, if you want the look of pear sidestones, use pears. But then again, I''m slightly biased.

Perhaps 4 smaller rounds in the place of 2 pears is more economical (though I''m not sure about that)...but I still wouldn''t do it! I will concede however, that on first glance I did not notice the "pears" were actually 2 rb stones...but I''m absolutely sure I''d notice immediately in person. Just my two cents!

thanks for the descriptions.....i hadn''t noticed they were rounds either.

this is the actual pear sides but it costs double at $3400

What size center stone will you be using? The Vatche number 628 indicates a 1ct, the price ($3400) indicates a 1.25ct. I''m just thinking if you can do a stone that large, don''t worry about getting a "bargain" on the setting. Are you sold on platinum? I have a Vatche in White Gold, at a substantially lower price, and have been very happy.

i''m not a big pear shape fan but i really like the first ring...! perhaps its because the bezel is pear shaped but the stones are round that i like it.....

peace, movie zombie

me too, I actually like both the pear look ring and baguette look ring by Vatche better than either styles with actual pears or baguettes. Don''t know why. I hadn''t occurred to me that it was a way of "faking" side stones, I just thought they were kind of cool looking!

One vote pro... the little accents next to the center look like tiny leaves and the use of small round melee to fill the form sounds pleasantly familiar from antique jewelry.

To me, it is a very vintage look

I am considering a stone between 1.1 and 1.25

not sure what you mean by don''t worry about trying to get a bargain on the setting.

$3400 vs. $1000- $1500 is a huge price difference....at least for me.

I''m sorry to have confused you. I should have said "in a delicate setting like THAT." I meant that the setting you posted is very delicate and prefer prongs in the more delilcate settings.

I did not realize that the side stones were rounds either! Like Valeria said, I think that is a more old-fashioned, vintage look. But like FireGoddess, I prefer "real" pears.

I have to agree that the look is more vintage. You know how everyone says "you have to try it on"? That''s what happened to me - I actually went looking for this exact same ring, as I thought I wanted a pear look, but when I tried it on, I knew it wasn''t "the one" for me. And $1000-$1500 is a lot of money - I can relate, having gone through this process myself recently. Do you live anywhere near a jeweler that carries Vatche''s line? (There is a dealer locator on Vatche''s website www.dvatche.com). I saw this (or maybe it was the baguette look) with a CZ mounted in it, and it was very complimentary to the center stone. Bottom line is, you should choose something you will both be happy with, no matter what anyone else thinks about it.

I actually like the pear pave better than the real pears. I think it''s much more unique look and I really like the side view, i think the lines look much cleaner without all the additional prongs. It''s just a personal preference though.
