Hello All!

I am looking for a pear shape stone with impeccable light performance under 15K. Any suggestions as to where to start would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all!

What size/carat weight and color/clarity preferences do you have?

Light performance is my primary concern.

I would like to find a stone close to 2 carats, but I recognize that would be a stretch.

I prefer a 1.5-1.55 L/W Ratio
Color: H+
Clarity: VS2+

Thank you all!

For impeccable light performance, pears are hard to find (PSers will look). Would an oval work? August Vintage Inc. just went to market with a an Ideal Pear (precision cut).

https://www.augustvintageinc.net/collections/opulence

Opulence Oval 1.65ct F VS1/VS2 $16,335
Opulence Oval 2.00 I SI1 $16,500.0
Opulence Oval 2.01 I SI2 $15,477.0

If this is of interest, I would reach out to August Vintage. Don't discount the lower clarity if @Rhino says they are eyeclean.

I just had a quick gander at James Allen and nothing looked fabulous to me, but maybe someone else will catch something I missed.

But I agree with Rockysalamander that if you really want great light performance, the opulence ovals are worth a look (if that's an option).

Pears with "impeccable" light return are hard to find and impeccable is subjective. (hold shift key down when clicking on links).
Look more at LxW vs carat weight.

I looked at James Allen and didnt see anything.

Did she request a pear...there are other shapes that have much better light return.

How are you doing on this OP? Are you still in a pear mode? Are you sure your intended only wants a pear?

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR EXPERTISE!

I am certainly open to other shapes with superior light return.

Here is my question; I am finding all of these unique and/or "ideal" cut stones such as those listed above.

Victor Canera/August Vintage/Ashoka/CrissCut/Tycoon/Bez Ambar/Etc.

I am not seeing any ASET images or AGS Reports for any of these cuts. Beyond anecdotal evidence that the stones are "the best" or "the brightest" or "possess more fire" how can I be assured of the actual light performance?

Any insight would be appreciated!

Victor Canera and Jon and GOG have both had ASET images done on their stones and have AGS reports with their stones, the rest are types of branded cuts rather than necessarily perfect cuts (but they market them as such), some of those stones can be really well cut others not so much.

Good Old Gold, James Allen, Diamonds by Lauren, and Grace at Jewels by Grace have some great pears if you are still searching for one from time to time.

Of those that I posted in your other thread...all the diamonds have images that document their light return (cavet noted if otherwise).

  • Ashoka/CrissCut - These are all cuts that maximize shallow material
  • Tycoon - This is a cut that has a different faceting pattern than its inspiration the emerald cut.
  • Bez Ambar - Didn't know they market a super-ideal diamond. I know this is a luxury brand.
What has the intended wearer asked for relative to shape? and setting? Maybe if you start there, it will narrow your search.
