Hello Everybody!

I am looking to buy a pear cut diamond and I want a minimum of 9-10mm in length. My main wish is that I want a pointy shape diamond (not rounded) but without a bowtie (or minimal). I''ve been offered a 0.90ct with dimensions of 9.25 x 5.11 x 3.27 that seem to fit my criteria (PGS cert). However, with this ratio am I likely to lose sparkle?

I don''t want to go above 1.15ct because that will affect the price considerably - do you have any suggestions for me please? Should I go for the 0.90ct or should I hold out?

Thanks in advance.

I''d suggest you contact Whiteflash. They sourced my pear 2.06 (12.12mm) under $5K.

They have several pears I found for you under $3200 over 9mm. Normally I''d suggest you stay with GIA or AGS grading reports, but I did find this EGL stone which is rated 4 stars at Whiteflash that might be a sweet "bang for your buck" diamond. Worth calling them up and asking.

Thank you so much for your advice. Your 2.02 sounds like a steal - would love to see a picture if you have one?

I actually have contacted Whiteflash and been quite specific in what I want i.e. colour range, dimensions etc., and found that I kept getting very strange emails from them not matching what I''d asked for. Then when I searched their site and sent them my wishlist to discuss, I didn''t hear back! TBH I know they seem to be well thought of on this site but I haven''t really felt like they want my custom. Strangely there''s been another thread today saying the same thing - maybe it''s just an "off" time of year

Many thanks for your advice and I''ll have a look at your suggestions.

If you don''t mind, tell us what your desired range is for clarity, color, and $$$ and we can look for stones for you.

I would give them a call if you haven''t had any luck with email, an expert vendor can be invaluable with these shapes to be your eyes, so I would absolutely contact them by phone and see how you get on.

Puuurrfect Pear - your pear is really gorgeous. I can''t believe the price you paid - that''s a diamond in a million!

Thank you both for your advice - really appreciated. I think I may have found a pear from a diamond dealer I know very well. Here are the stats, what do you think?

1.01ct
I colour
Strong blue fluorescence
SI2
GIA Cert
9.20 x 5.65 x 3.25
Polish - Very good
Symmetry - Good

Comments from the dealer are "super white and eye clean". I would suspect the fluor is making it look whiter than an I.

LD, ask if he can send you some pics and to check the SB fluorescence that it doesn''t have an adverse affect - this is rare though. I would LOVE strong blue with an I colour!!!

Already checked - no clouds or oily appearance but thanks for pointing that out. I''ve not seen an I with strong blue so unsure what it''ll be like!!! Do you think it will be super white as the seller describes it?

I wouldn''t like to hazard a guess with it being super white, as I don''t know what the seller''s standards are...It could certainly face up plenty white, and the SB fluorescence could only aid that in my opinion. But I would think that this could be a harmonious combo with the I and the fluorescence!

Thanks for that. Well I guess I''ll know in a couple of weeks and will report back!!!!!

Can the dealer send you ASET, Sarin, photos? Those would help to evaluate, though your own eyes will be the best judge.

Looking forward to it.

No. Unfortunately not. He''s a diamond dealer not a retailer (if you see what I mean). I''m getting photos on Monday but just normal ones!

I am excited to see the pics, I love a nice pear!
