Thanks to @SouthernGent i have a little piece of yag rough thats getting chopped up mext week. I thought it might be fun for those of us working with Bryce on this to chat about the shapes and sizes we're deciding on.

I'm doing at least 2, one modified old mine and one hybrid portuguese/round that looks like a starburst.

I'm going for an elongated cushion to start. I was torn between 2 cuts, Akhavan's "aperture science" (picture 1) and Rand's "cut corners" (picture 2). I suggested Bryce choose the one he'd enjoy cutting most and went for cut corners. I would like to get some more cut, maybe make a set! Maybe a pair for earrings.

Ooh! If i do another it'll be an elongated shape...those both look great! It was fun poking through that gem cutting database!

Omg im also going to get a cut corners stone (probably)! And a round. Love that cut!

I will be having two more cut myself - one for the wife and one for the daughter. My wife's will be a cushion/asscher shape and the daughter wants one "just like dad's". :mrgreen2:

Hopefully I will be shipping my stone off to David Klass within the next couple of days. I'm still waiting on a local jeweler to give me a quote, but based on his initial quote for that lab spinel I was about to have set I don't think there's any way he's going to come close to matching David's prices.

That's so sweet! I think your wife's will be lovely too, I have a soft spot for cushions and you can get some beautiful cuts.

well here are mine... may need to part with one when they arrive b/c i've overspent lately but they're so pretty i want to keep them both and cut more.....

Gorgeous! At least there's enough rough that you can always get another cut ;)2

Nice. Bryce jumped right on it, didn't he?

he said i used about half of my slice up. i am still hoping i can find someone to cut the rest into melee but that needs to go on the backburner too =)

ugh...my phone! *felt a little pressure*

looking forward to seeing what else you all got and getting a look at these in real life!

My first piece is on the way! An 8mm round so I can check color and see what else I want him to cut :) hoping it can be a good side stone color for my faceted rainbow moonstone

@clumberlove what a wonderful finished stone! It's "cut corners", right? It's amazing!!!

Yes, it's cut corners. I'm really excited to see it in person! Then to decide how to set it. I was thinking just doing silver as this is supposed to be a "cheap" project

I'm struggling waiting for mine to arrive still. It's now in Poland :eek2:

mine is in my mailbox and its taking all my willpower not to go get it (even though I'm at work!)

Oh no, how terribly tempting! At least I can't just pop down to Warsaw :lol-2:

I didn't realize all of my YAG ladies were international celebrities. :mrgreen2:

Oh my godddddd. This freaking stone is just outstanding. Bryce hit it out of the park and the material is insane.
