i have an I colored stone, BR, and was wondering if i can put it in palladium. i here it is as strong as platinum but without the price. i also here it may be too white for my stone. any opinions? should i go with 14 whit gold?

thanks everyone!

An I colored stone should look just fine in palladium. I know others do just fine with white gold, but personally, I didn't like it for everyday wear as I had to have it rhodium plated every 6 months or so to keep it looking decent. I recently switched to platinum for that reason...

If it''s a well-cut stone, an I stone will face up quite white. The color shouldn''t be problematic if you decide to go with palladium.

Whether or not you choose to go with 14K white gold really depends on your personal preferences (how does each look to you) and what your price points are.

Ditto...and palladium white gold is another option.

It should look fine :) I''m having my J stone placed into a ArtCarved 950 palladium setting in a couple of weeks.

thanks everyone! you have been a big help! but as i sit here, the only think i know my sweetheart wanted/ liked was white gold. so as much as i know palladium is a harder whiter metal, i may just go with 14 WG. :-)

i think it will look great either way!

the stone is 1.6 carats and i''m going to put it in a 2mm solitaire band. i just want to highlight the diamond. do think that will be okay?

thanks

I think it will be fabulous!! But I recommend going with 18k white gold because it is a little nicer!

will 18 carat be strong enough? the band is 2mm and i''m going with 6 prongs. i''m worried about it not standing the test of time?

But what do you mean that 18K WG is nicer than palladium? I only ask because the setting I just chose only comes in 950 palladium (ArtCarved). I''ve been researching palladium on PriceScope the last couple of days, and it''s split fairly even on WG vs palladium, and that platinum is nicer than both (in most people''s opinion). My setting had only one metal choice... Thanks so much!

I think maybe DS2006 meant 18k is nicer that 14k. I would agree that palladium is better than white gold, because has more longevity, similar to platinum. Also no need to rhodium.
