Anyone has opinions on Palladium 500 (in the context of a diamond tension ring)?

I understand that it's only 50% Palladium, but for white pieces the other options are white gold which is typically rhodium-plated and needs re-coating once in a while, and platinum which is considerably more expensive (and heavier).

Any particular pros and cons I should consider?

I work with palladium 500 regularly and it would probably work alright as a tension ring...provided that it was built heavily enough. It's a little softer than palladium white gold and both of these alloys are much more gray in color than silver, platinum or one of the really white gold alloy's, (think Stuller's X-1 white gold). If you don't mind a more gray metal, then palladium 500 should work well for you, (it can actually be a good thing when one is trying to show off a pale colored stone or diamond, since it provides a little more more contrast).
