www.auctionsnipper.com - it allows you to set up an automatic bid at the last seconds of an auction. This is in order to avoid computer glitches and pushing up the prices days before the auction ends.

Only an hour or so to go on the auction....I''m TOTALLY worked up about this....I hope Deco''s bidding!

I hope so too. I have to say, I totally love this pendant and thought about bidding, but then realized I couldn''t do that to Deco (plus I''d get a snarky/quick-witted tongue lashing for sure!) Finders, keepers. I hope you won Deco!

Wow that was TENSE!

Oh well ... got too rich for my budget for ANY risk! By several hundred dollars. I actually called Tiff today and could get a similar size pendant, also platinum, E color for $2500 sooooooooo ...

Stay tuned!

But I will give you all some eye candy ... the neck shot.

Oh well. I only wanted it if it was a bargain, otherwise I''d rather have all the paperwork & peace of mind.

THANKS SO MUCH for everyone''s support. I was going OUT OF MY MIND the last day or so... More fun to go crazzzzzzy surrounded with bling pals!

I agree with the comment of it being a deal or just heading to the store for the peace of mind that it's tried and true T&Co...Plus the blue box... :)

It's a lovely pendant, I have seen it. No need to be a VVS, but what bothers me is that she keeps calling it Flawless... Clearly the word flawless is no where on the T&Co paperwork, why does she call it that?! W/E, perhaps general ignorance....

Well, I hope you get the pendant and enjoy it. This one was an older style with a thicker bezel which I am not a fan of. Also if you get a new one from T&Co, make sure to take lots of pictures!!! LOTS!

ETA: I am SO retarded! My friend has this necklace in a I think a seventy pointer or so... I should have asked HER to check hers and see the differences! DAMNIT! Oh well, now we know.

I totally agree that it has to be a bargain to even bother with Ebay. For me at least 40-50% off. That''s another reason I like auction sniper because it keeps me within a set limit so that I can''t go crazy in the last few seconds of bidding and then regret it later.

Deco, is the retail on the pendant too high? I was wondering since you said that you could get a similar sized one from Tiffany for $2,500. Thanks for posting the neck shot - its really just such a classy piece.

Wellllll ... the ones I'd *started* dreaming of were in the 6K range (too high to justify). Then I was at Tiff more recently & saw a "baby" version for about $2800. That got me thinking more seriously about it!
31.gif
Made it MUCH more doable for a big event (I have 40th bday coming up in Sept & 1st anniversary in Oct) or to celebrate a big goal accomplished.

However ... now there's no rush. A good six months until either of those biggies & I have time to dream & change my mind -- or commit at my leisure.

For a "bargain" ... IMO up to about $1700 for the Ebay one ... I would have jumped on it now & put it away. (Perhaps put the "savings" toward that bezel set pair of studs I have my eye on too
31.gif
)

But the winning bid was almost $2100!!
23.gif
+ shipping + insurence etc. Several years old, third-hand, unable to be tried on etc etc.

FYI for anyone pondering a SIMILAR purchase ... this is what I found out today in my "research":

.34 G VVS2 $2800
.31 E VS1 $2500
.32 G VS2 $2680
.84 F VS1 $8500

Happy shopping!

** I don''t mean to imply that the "original retail price" of 4K for the .39/f/vvs1 pendant isn''t accurate. Whoever bought it originally added an inch to the platinum chain - I''m sure that cost something & who knows, Lucida stones might have been a wee bit more when they were 1st released ... I sure remember a stampede to get them.

I only meant that a genuine, brand-new pendant that would scratch the same itch & be "good enough" stats wise for my taste is avail at $2500.

Fall too long to wait for pix?

Weird that for .01 pt more AND a drop in clarity AND color the .32 one is $180 MORE than the .31.

Odd!

I showed my FI and he said maybe if I''m good he''ll get me one for OUR first anniversary!!! So I''ve gotta wait 1.5 years!

I really shouldn''t buy anything. I decided to take my spending money and invest it in more pilates lessons and start golf lessons.

Not nearly as exciting as diamonds, I know...but I figure it''s better for my health.

I noticed that too ... they were from diff stores I think -- NYC vs. Short Hills, NJ. Maybe I copied it down wrong also .. VS1 vs VS2?? *shrug*

Ooooo -- good luck on your anniversary negotiations! If mine don''t go so well by Sept I''m probably buying it for *myself*.

There''s kind of a tradition built up -- for my 30th I bought myself a Tiffany watch & still love it today (sent it in for polishing etc .. can''t wait to get it back!!). It would be kind of fitting to have a Tiffany 40th. Either way -- THAT SUCKA IS MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE. Do I sound determined?

Hijacking my own thread but -- INTERESTING ... DH & I have been talking about this too. Most of our hobbies are *indoor* and we really want to find something *outdoors* that we can learn together & then continue. My pleas for him to play tennis & bike w/me are not often fruitful

Deco since this your own thread, I will join the hijack with you...

I am TERRIBLE when it comes to hand/eye/ball coordination. But I do feel that golf is something you can continue on for a long time and I want to pick up something that we can share together. I would love for him to go rollerblading with me, but places to safely skate can be limited and I am scared to have him pick up the sport as a beginner now that his body is starting to fall apart. hehehehe.

It''s something we can do when we go to resorts and what not. I have yet to see if I''ll like it. I took 5 lessons or so last year and then the driving range went under rennovation in May, so I didn''t go back after that (plus I had a wedding to plan). A year later I am up for taking it a bit more seriously.

Plus I think it would be a fun thing to do with the girls. A lot of my friends golf for fun, and I even have a friend who was a LPGA golfer for awhile.

The price difference between the winning bid and the real thing from tiffs doesn''t seem to be large enough to consider it, so it sounds like you made a good decision not getting it. It really is a lovely pendant though...and if you need any enabling...I''m sure there are many here would love to see pics of that beauty if you bought one from tiffs!!!

Deco, I also buy myself presents - birthdays, new jobs, its Friday... I''m totally in favor. It would be a great landmark gift.

The item I''ve most been lusting for is the dragonfly pendant from the nature collection - that is what I''m hoping my fiance gets me for my birthday this year. I am completely in love with this necklace. He knew I liked the ''bugs'' at Tiffany and got me the white gold earrings in a different style but its the nature collection necklace that I adore.

http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/item.aspx?sku=14416587&search_params=t+-s+2-p+8-l+-h+-c+-r+166+117+134+129-x

I''m also thinking about learning to play golf! My fiance can play but I''ve never tried. He may also teach me tennis. Actually the only sport I know is fencing! Ha, I think it would be fun if he learned that.

Pretty pendant! I''ll send you "blingy bug b-day" vibes!!

It''s funny you mention fencing ... DH has been talking about taking lessons since I met him ... but I think for *US* golfing would be more practical: vacations & socializing & getting FREAKIN out o'' doors. We''re both "nesters" by nature -- and "nature nature" is passing us by!!

I *LOVE* tennis though -- and by "tennis" I mean hitting the ball around until I tire out. Score-keeping isn''t quite as fun for me as just keeping a volley going!

The college DH works for offers some classes ... I''ve *thought* about it. Went to a driving range with my brother one time (Chelsea Piers) and it was great fun kinda swinging at the East River. Though - we seemed to be better at accidentally hitting the carts darting around picking up balls.

Not gonna pick it up in time for Ireland though I''m afraid!
