Whaddya think? Does this look legit?

Hi Deco,

I kinda checked out the seller''s feedback.
She or he is not a store seller. It seems like she buys more than she sells, & only sells some used stuffs. (mayber her owns?)
& I''d say those 2nd hand stuffs are generally more expensive things. BUT this is the 1st time she sells jewelry.

One good thing is that she offers "refund if the item is not accurately described."
So if you want to buy it, you can bring it to Tiffany to have them check it, & ask for a refund if it''s not true as what she described.

Just my 2 cents.

Aiiigh I'm obsessed ....

NEATFREAK ... are you around??? You tried it on recently ... thoughts on the clasp?? Can you recall how it looked???

Aiiigh.

My DH thinks I am *nutso*.

ETA: Dooboa -- thanks for the input. That's what I thought about her feedback too but my DH insists that all Tiff on ebay are fakes. I'm like -- who would copy this?? Aiiigh!!!

Hi,

The shipping is $201........and that is alot and outrageous!!!!!

Is the shipping refundable, if you do not like it or it is not as advertised?

Good Luck

Hey Deco,

I can't for the LIFE of me remember what the clasp looks like, but the one thing I think is odd is that they say they bought it at an ESTATE sale last year. So to me, that means that the necklace is at least a year+ old. Didn't this necklace come out recently?

I also think the shipping rates are really sketchy. Will that be refunded too?

But otherwise, I can't tell for the life of me whether it's real or not. My guess is no since there are no close shots, and quite honestly the size of the stone looks wayyyy too big to be a .39 in comparision to the link size.

But if it's ALL refundable, including the outrageous shipping charge, there's no harm in trying. Just pay for it with a CC through paypal to make sure you have double protection in case you get screwed.

Good luck!!!!!!

ETA: I just compared that slip they show on the screen with both the online order one I just got recently and an old in store slip. None of mine look like that, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Just looks odd.

Before bidding, I''d email the seller to ask if they will consider other shipping options. The one they chose is absurd. It''s not like anyone HAS to have it 2nd day air! Outrageous shipping makes me think one of two things, an inexperienced seller or someone not so honest who wants to make money off shipping charges. I have had people change the shipping for me when I inquired, though. Tell them you''d want USPS registered mail, and I''ll bet it would be under $25.

That''s what I thought too -- I think I''m *blinded* by the *desire* for it to be real!

Also agree w/everyone''s comments re: the shipping -- was thinking maybe she wasn''t exp with insuring valuables or something. I wrote to see what she''d say about it.

Perhaps my fresh case of PINK EYE, added onto my COLD is really "clouding my vision".

I hope you feel better soon Deco!!!

Deco, sorry you aren''t feeling well! The necklace looks beautiful, so I hope it is legit for you!

*M*

I would try contacting the vendor and see if shipping would be refunded with return if the item is not authentic. I would get their response *in writing*. If the vendor says the shipping would not be refunded, I would buy from them. It''s a dirty sales tactic and a way to make $200 even if a person returns their purchase.

I wouldn't buy it with that shipping option under any circumstances. I would not bid unless they agree to a reasonable shipping method.

Okay, just checked and she added a correction to the listing regarding the shipping:

"**Shipping costs were calculated using the original purchase price. This is incorrect, my mistake and I apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.**

Shipping insurance (which I require) will be paid by the buyer, is calculated at $.50 per $100 of the winning bid amount. This amount will be determined at the auction's end.

Please disregard the listed amount of $201.00 as we won't know the amount until the auction's end."

I would get in in writing that she will do registered mail, and then you know the price won't be too high. Not understanding postage is a really common thing on ebay. I've seen people list a book with $10 shipping, so I always write and ask if they'd mail it by media mail for $2.00. Honest people are usually open to correcting shipping.

That shipping is outrageous. WOW. How do they justify that?

I don''t know Deco, I don''t think I''d take the risk.

me neither. Have you emailed signedpieces and added it to your wish list? they will email you if one comes in. otherwise, i''d probably just save up and buy one from tiffany''s. it''s gorgeous though...

Yeah, I put in a Signed Pieces request a couple months ago & nothing''s come up.

The shipping stuff has changed & she admitted a mistake ... but she hasn''t responded to two requests for neck shots (or any other form of size reference)

I did notice that two of the three bidders are frequent bidders on Tiffany items & high-volume buyers. I think THEY think it''s real. *Sigh*

** bumping*** in case Nicrez or Winternight is around ... (last day to decide)

Hi Deco...

Well, I'm not a Tiff x-prt, nor am I experienced in shopping Ebay....but I'd probably go for it.

I checked and she has zero neutral feedback as well as zero negs. I like it that experienced Tiff-buyers are bidding. The documentation sure looks legit to me...does it to everyone else?

Just my one cent worth!

Hi Deco! I haven''t been reading the boards much so I just saw this. I''ve bought authentic Tiffany items on Ebay before, but only gold items. The pendant looks genuine to me. I think the fakes are 99% silver and maybe some engagement style rings. I say if you love it go for it - its gorgeous and you can have Tiffany check it out. It would be great if it showed up on signedpieces, but that may or may not happen. I really like that necklace, its so classy and different.

Btw. I hate that you can''t see who the high bidders are anymore after a certain price. It used to be helpful to know.

Spotted Nicrez online ... had to bumpity bump!!!

ETA:

Thanks, Winternight ... I do love it *so*.

Thanks Widget! I did get a peek at a neck pix of it too -- the seller emailed it to me so I feel hesitant to post her pix w/o permission. Suffice to say - it looks very nice. And platinumy. The size is throwing me a bit though ... it does look big, but I remember how huge Wallermama's bezeled studs looked too. A bezel does quite the plumping job. Hmmmm.

Sorry Deco, it''s been a while!

I can only make mention that the information they are including seems to have been an internal TCo documentation. Either they had it faxed, or copied. The set up of info is from the company system, so that kind of means very little. It does have the right patent # for Lucida...

"Estate" just means it had prior ownership. One year, 100 years, not important. "Antique" means 100 years old.

It seems real enough...but who knows these guys are good...Find out from E-BAY the return policy and what you need to protect yourself. Pay with a credit card through paypal or something, if possible...? I use my Amex for dubious items...always nice feeling protected.

What are the specs on the stone??

What are the specs on the stone??

The only stuff listed is the .39, F, VVs1 ... I don''t think she has any of the original paperwork or cert or anything .. as she got it 2nd hand.

I''ve never seen a copy of this particular style with Tiffany markings but that doesn''t mean they don''t exist. My gut says: authentic.

Not sure if my gut is a gambler though.

Aaaw...cute chicken...but deco...don''t be one!

I say: GO FOR IT!!!

(I may know nothing about buying Tiff on Ebay...but I''m GREAT at enabling...

Bezels really do beef up a stone. Remember this picture of Mara''s pendants? The top one is a bezel set fifteen pointer. The lower one is prong set, .38ct regent. Think how much bigger it would look if it were bezeled...

Deco, that is a beautiful necklace. I wouldn''t know if it were the ''real thing'' or not, but, i did have one idea. Have you called Signed Pieces and told them what you are looking for? I thought Jewels (maybe?) did that and they found a band she was looking for. Good luck in your quest.

Just adding that if you do bid with Paypal be sure to use your credit card and not bank account for that added protection. Let us know what you decide.

That bezel comparison shot is pretty amazing. Might have to consider bezel set studs.

Sooooo...?
31.gif

I asked a friend who''s a pro at this. She agreed that the pendant is likely real, and the fact that they had papers from the interoffice system at TCo seemed to authenticate just a little more. I noticed the bezel was a bit thick, and I didn''t like it because the look is more streamlined, but my friend assured me that it was thicker back when it first came out. The SKU number seems to show that it was purchased in TCO and that it seems real. Now I hope that SKU number is correct for the pendant, but I will say that i noticed something peculiar. The classification for the stone (Lucida) is not an "RMB" as stated. It should be a CSX, but this may have just been some error on the part of TCo, because to know the details of how to reproduce an internal document, I would be shocked at that sort of level of committment.

So I would say 70% real, but likely purchased when the pendants first sort of came out, certainly over a few years old, but who cares...?

HAPPY BIDDING AND GOOD LUCK!!!!

I''m not a Tiffany expert, but I am an avid eBayer...I say go for it (with cc and PayPal protection). If you do, I hope you win! And let me know if you need any tips on bid sniping!

I hate to be the lone newbie here, but what is "bid sniping"? Does it have anything to do with the underbidder???

*casually* you know...curious in general, that''s all...
