You too can be like Princess E with a Pad Sapphire and diamond ring. Spotted this item on line.5DA8FB8B-AF8F-4323-B010-1D75548B43D8.jpeg
A “whooping” .50 carat “rare Padparadscha sapphire” with a “generous” total diamond accent weight of .38 carat for a “bargain” $6,580.......
The media has been saying Princess E’s sapphire is worth 70,000 pounds so this ring is obviously a steal.
I wonder if anyone other than PS ers even knows what colour a Pad Sapphire is supposed to be.
Sigh.

I have loved pads for almost 20 years (and no, I don’t have one). I have always loved the color of the one on the padparadscha tab on the Finewater Gems website. That would be my HG pad. I’m not referring to the gems currently available, but the one on the tab. I thought you were supposed to see a delicate (but not washed out) and distinct orange and pink in the stone. They are supposed to be mostly separate, not blended.

Wait, wrong website. I can’t remember where I saw my hg.

A padparadcha should always come with a highly reputable lab report indicating it is a padparadcha. The above looks like a pink sapphire that a dealer is trying to pass off as a pad to charge $$$$$.

Totally, and it’s a sad little example of a pink at that!
Really annoys me, unscrupulous or totally naive sellers cashing in on a “trend”.

I knew that would happen. It's just like the overpriced blackish colored sapphires that were selling like hot cakes for $$$$ because of Diana's ring.

This bandwagon is too expensive for me!

Even before Eugenie's ring I saw plenty of sellers that were either unscrupulous or color-blind. Or both?
