Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here. What an AMAZING website with so much useful information. Thanks!!!

I was hoping to get some valuable advice from all the experts here. DH and I will be renewing our vows next year for our 25th anniversary. We have started with the hunt for new white gold wedding bands. Sorry but I don’t have pictures available. I can’t get them from my computer to post. I have one ring on hold at a wholesale jeweller in Toronto. It is close to 3 ctw. It is a white gold band that has five sections to it. Each section has 4 invisible set princess cut diamonds that are followed by a vertical baguette. So the ring has 20 princess cut diamonds and 4 baguettes. There is no gold between each of the sections. I really do love the ring. Of course it’s too small and will need to be sized. I am not sure how it will sit on my hand. It seems like LOTS of bling but my girls say you can never have too much bling LOL I think I may prefer have smaller (price limitations!!) but solid princess cut diamonds with baguettes.

I have scoured the internet to find pictures of this ring but I have NOT been successful, however, I did find some photos of rings that really interest me. Again no photos.

The first band has a number of solid princess cut stones and in between the stones, it has two horizontal baguettes (at least I think that is what they are). I LOVED the look of what I saw but I would really like to see the ring in its entirety. There is NO gold separating the stones between the princess diamond and baguettes. I saw it on Pintrest but can’t find it anymore. The photo has four bands together with some white material inside the rings. The ring I really like is the second from the top. Anyone know the band I am talking about? Anyone have any photos? Any comments or advice regarding this type of setting?

The other ring that interests me and I have seen LOTS of different versions, is again a band that will have solid princess cut ring and then two horizontal baguettes. I was thinking 3 solid stones and four sets of baguettes. This ring is different because it has gold in between each stone/stones. Some photos have lots of gold between the stones and the gold sits quite high, while others seem to have the gold more flush with the stones. I personally prefer the rings that have gold that is flush with the stones. I don’t want to have anything snagging. Any photos anyone??

Another thought I had was to make the ring with a bezel setting. The stones won’t be that big and I am not sure if bezel settings make diamonds look smaller.

To celebrate our anniversary DH and I will be going on a Southern Caribbean cruise and one of the ports is St. Martin. Initially, we were thinking of getting our bands there but now I don’t think that is the plan. Do the experts think we should still consider that? I also want to ask what people think about purchasing loose diamonds there to have the jeweller use. We have never done anything like that and don’t even know where to start.

Anyone have any pictures of the types of rings I am speaking about? Any thoughts, comments or advice will be really appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Teri

Hi there, and huge congratulations on 25 years! :D

The rings you are describing very well sound beautiful. I absolutely am a fan of invisible set princess diamonds, but I do have a cautionary tale. My engagement ring was 12 princess diamonds set into 3 quads of 4, giving an overall look of three larger princess diamonds. Stunning :sun: However, long story short, my 3 year old managed to accidentally fling it onto the kitchen floor, which is made from slate. One of the small diamonds cracked in half on impact, seemingly because of the force of the bump against the pressure setting pushing all the stones together & holding them in place - the diamond next to it cracked it. My insurance company (I am in the UK) refused to repair the ring. They stated that an "invisible set princess diamond ring is an occasion ring and not an everyday wear ring, and consequently it's durability for long term wear is questionable". They added that to repair the setting would leave it weaker & vulnerable to further damage & so it would need to be completely replaced. At this point they added that they would not insure a replacement of the same style to be worn as an engagement ring. So I now wear a pear cut solitaire, which is very beautiful :))

My very waffling point, would be that on that back of what the insurance company said, I would advise against this type of setting for everyday wear :((

Hi Alex and thanks for the congratulations :) It certainly is an accomplishment LOL

Alex, the information you provided is very useful to me and thanks so very much. I never thought of the setting being more vulnerable to issues. I will certainly research it more.

I think I will have to seriously consider the solid princess cut ring and then two horizontal baguettes.

Again, thanks so much for your help. I really do appreciate it.

Teri, I would also advise against buying a ring like this unless it can be ordered in your size. Sometimes sizing a band with diamonds set into the band like this can loosen the stones.

A lot of girls here have bought diamond bands from ID Jewelry. They have many styles of rings, so you might want to look through them to get some ideas.

Hi diamonseeker,

Thanks so much for your input on the invisible setting :( It's really sad but I am so glad I posted here. I did some reading and LOTS of people do complain about about this type of setting :(

The ring doesn't fit me and the jeweller said he would size it for me. That concerns me, since when I asked him he said there would be NO problem!!! Now I am even concerned about his truthfullness!!!!

I guess my hunt for the perfect ring is just beginning :( I thought I was done LOL

This site has been amazing :) I will continue my hunt and drool at all the rings I see here :)

Thanks again,

Teri

Hi Teri,

So glad we could help. Diamonds are a big indulgence & you need to make sure you get it right & that it's suitable for the purpose you intend.

Of course, when you find the one & have your beautiful ceremony to celebrate your 25 gorgeous years of marriage, you MUST post us some pics in SMTB :sun:

Hi Alex,

I will definitely post some pics when I finally decide on what I am getting :) I can't believe how much is really involved in getting just right :)

I feel so blessed to have found this site with so many knowledgable people who are willing to share their expertise!!

Thanks again everyone,

Teri
