Last year I had the joy of putting together an e-Ring with one of CherryPicked''s fine sapphires, this year I am differently economically blessed, but am looking to find earrings that can be matched with it, to the general, unobservant eye.

I''m interested in sapphire stud earrings. These two are more or less what I''d like:

http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=5679&filter_id=0
(Mondera didn''t seem to have anything comparable that caught my eye)

Not having the time to receive and inspect the stones/jewelry this time around, I ask your advice: Is BlueNile''s quality enough to justify the additional cost in this case? (obviously their website has a better picture, and who knows where the overstock earrings came from...) Also, is there anything I''m overlooking here?

thanks.

It is hard to judge the blue nile earrings, except that they are 4mm, which is a relatively small size. I would stay away from the overstock earrings -- the sapphire looks black in the picture. I can visualize that quality, and they are also 4mm. I would think you could find 4mm round very high quality blue sapphire studs for over a hundred dollars less than Blue Nile''s price.

If I had to choose I'd probably go with bluenile
or these.

I looked on riogems. I know they aren't allowed to advertise but they have stones too though above your pricerange maybe as do a few other vendors here.

How did the ring come out?

Try looking around here

I would love to get a naturalsapphirecompany set or earrings, so that I have full knowledge of the quality of the gems - but the least expensive merchandise they have available appears to start about $300 above my price range...

Riogems didn''t seem to have any blue sapphire earrings. And ACStones didn''t seem to have any sapphires earrings in white gold or platinum, though the price of innerkitten''s suggestion fell right within my range.

Bummer. Well if I think of something I'll post. Okay I just thought of something while typing lol.
How about mineralminers.com
They have some in white gold 5mm for under $431 and a smaller pair for less.

I don''t know if these online sellers are good, but here are a couple I found:

this is strange, they have a bunch of plain gemstone stud earrings for $275, but for the sapphire ones they add a diamond and charge more. maybe in their store they might have plain sapphires?

Maybe someone else can say if these sellers are good or bad...

Hi,

Can''t say much about the quality of the stones vs stones, although the overstock do look black. BUT, 4mm is very small. I''d try for 5-6 mm which make a nice size stud.

They wouldn''t be able to sell plain 6mm sapphire stud earrings for $275 -- if you look at the other gemstones they are selling in these studs for $275, they are stones that don''t cost more than $20 (amethyst, peridot, swiss blue topaz, etc...). Nice blue sapphires are much more expensive than those.
