Hi All,

I am new to this forum and was wondering if I could get some assistance reviewing the following Oval Stones.

I understand how complicated it is to not get burned with a Oval that has too much bow-tie or to much girth lost in weight also with the cut not providing excellent light return. So I have tried to self-educate but unfortunately since I have not been around diamonds frequently I do not have any practical experience just a list of suggested numbers to try and buy the best cut Oval diamond I can afford.

If anyone has time let me know what you think of the loose diamonds listed below:

Thanks!

Hi Queenie,

Thanks for the reply that looks amazing. Do you know much about this Vendor? Have you dealt with them before?

Yes, contact Jonathan. He's well respected and enjoys a stellar reputation. He tells me that the ovals will be available sometime in December. I would suggest you email him and tell him what you're looking for. I'm waiting patiently myself!! Worth the wait.

Just FYI, of the 3 you posted the first stone has the best light return (IMO, although there are probably better ones out there).

What you want to see is, as the stone turns, facets lighting up (reflecting light) headed from the center down towards the pointed ends.
This is what Jonathan has optimize with his new ovals...facets that reflect light well all the way down to the pointed ends.

Here are some examples that reflect light fairly well as the stones turn (ignore color/inclusions and just look at the faceting and light return).

I think it is because its an 8-main oval (B style below) vs. the more common ones that are 4-main. I'd put this on hold OP until other weigh in.

Nice! I wasn't aware there were different cuts like this for ovals. Hopefully the OP is checking in, I would love to see the ASET on this stone

Hi All,

I got the ASET for the stone.

What do you think?

No bow tie but it does have some light leakage, I’m interested to see what the others think of it as well. With its being an 8 main B oval I have no idea how the ASET is suppose to look.

Wait for the ASETs on @Rhino's August Vintage Signature Ovals!

I dont like all the light leakage on that 8 main so I went ahead and peeked again at stones

I like this one for the chunky faceting

This one appears to be another 8 main but it looks nicer than that first one

And I guess I am good at finding the odd ball cuts because this one is looks strange to me lol but its nice
