Oval question re: symmetry

Hi guys - I'm a diamond newb in the market for an oval, and think I may have found a great stone but am a little hung up on the diamond's symmetry rating from GIA. The specifications I'm looking for are for a stone with G or better color, VS2 or better clarity, between 1.5-2.0 carats, and not recently mined (i.e., a reclaimed/antique stone).

My jeweler came back to me with a stone with the following specs (images and GIA report also attached):
  • D, VS2, 1.77 carats
  • Oval Brilliant
  • 9.47 x 6.60 x 4.37
  • Polish: Very Good
  • Symmetry: Good
  • Fluorescence: None
All seems great, but I'm a little hung up on the "good" symmetry rating. My research to date has indicated that the GIA cut ratings aren't really suited for fancy shaped stones, but the "good" is still giving me a bit of pause.

What do you guys think? It otherwise looks to be a beautiful diamond, so I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill here if the cut ratings just aren't that applicable to ovals.

Wanted to give this a quick bump because I have to pull the trigger on this stone. I saw it in person, and it looks great - can't see the cloud, or any inclusions even under 10x (new pictures attached). Having done additional research, I suspect the culprit may be the depth (66.2), but I still can't figure out what's giving this stone the relatively low marks on symmetry. Can anyone advise as to whether "good" rated stones are still worth it in the oval context?

Is it sparkly? Do you see much of a bow tie? I cannot stand a bow tie. Did you compare it to other ovals? I cannot tell from the pictures. I am sorry I cannot answer the symmetry question. I would say don't get pressured to make a decision quickly.

Sorry this does not look like an antique oval to me! An antique oval will have a culet and show chunkier facets like the Moval I linked below.

I can't post about "good" symmetry but I can at least refer to what Gypsy told me when I was asking about a "very good" symmetry oval diamond.

Very good symmetry is fine. Symmetry on a lab report doesn't refer to optical symmetry. It refers to the alightment of the facets in relation to one another. Don't ask me to explain it. Just do a search about it if you want to understand it better. It always gives me a headache.
