Hi all,

After doing research i’ve finally decided I want to go with an oval :)
Here are my “requirements”
EC- carat weight will probably be around 5ct-6ct. Would consider a stready 4ct
Ideal Ratio: 1.35 or LOWER. I saw a 1.22 ratio that I loved but it was a I color and seemed very yellow to me.
G color or of course higher
SI1 clarity as long as eye clean
Fluorescence — Medium is fine .. ideally little to none
Little to no bowtie
Budget... max is 125k... maybe higher if it’s absolutely perfect.

Hi atia,

What a lovely project! First, I'd contact Jon at www.augustvintageinc.com to see what he has available or in the pipeline for his new ideal cut ovals, these are cut for beauty and are stunning. Email or call him, he's lovely to deal with, that's where I'd start.

I like this one, which is also within your desired ratio. This stone has 6 mains and the facet pattern is reminiscent to a MRB to me, which is desirable - ASETs for ovals are never very pretty but I like the way the stone moves in the video: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/O503-281869617?

Kk snap!

thanks for sharing! I was reading about August vintage on another thread but the ratio is very important to me. I really want a more round/wider oval.

No worries!

I would contact him and see if he happens to have anything else that is not listed, he very well may have something that is in the works.

Quick question.. How do you all feel about florescence for this diamond size? I have been getting mixed opinions. Some saying that medium florescence is OK but some saying that florescence is a no no for this ct size.

Wow, what a fun and exciting project! I completely second calling Jon. My husband and I have been talking to him about a custom EC. The process of lookig is exhausting and I’m taking a bit of a break but give him a call.

Also, look at Jean Dousett... he has the most amazing ovals in my opinion. Just get some inspiration:)

I have a 4ct D-color oval with very strong fluorescence and i adore it. It’s about personal preference and I think you really have to see it to decide for yourself.

This is how it looks most of the time in indirect sunlight or inside (this pic from inside the car)

This is the most “blue” that it ever gets in full midday sun. It rarely looks like this.
Hope this helps!

As long as strong blue or very strong blue didn't cause a dulling effect ( rare) then it's no problem in my opinion, especially as you're specific with the shape stone you want.

 wow so beautiful! Just guessing the ratio is between 1.35 to 1.48 :saint:?

I've never heard of AGI the only two really reliable diamond labs in the US are AGL (not AGI) and GIA. Diamonds with those certificates cost more because they grade them more strictly everywhere else no clue what you are getting they are usually way way off or incorrect in colour and off clarity wise, so the diamond could be misrepresented by several colours and by several clarities.

There are no short cuts buying a diamond if the deal seems too good to be true like your Ebay stone there is usually a good reason for that. Do not get tricked into buying a stone that is several colours and clarities lower than what you believe and do not buy anything that could be enhanced.

Omg I love blue fluorescence so much your stone is AMAZING!!!

3 different posters have posted the same stone from 3 different sites...I think that makes it worth a look. The best view is on BlueNile but the best
price is Enchanted Diamonds. See Bolded below. It looks to be a beautiful stone.
