Hi all,

First-time poster (and diamond shopper) - thanks in advance for your help! I'm looking for an oval in the 1.5-2.2 ct range that has good life and sparkle to it! The very top end of my budget would be around $25k...but would love to spend less! I've been looking through JA and BN for weeks and have basically driven myself mad trying to see the scintillation, fire and brilliance of these diamonds, especially as the backgrounds on the 360 degree views differs. I know a few folks have mentioned ASETs, but I dont think either offer them. I feel like Blue Nile diamonds look a bit better, but maybe it is just the backgrounds.

Below are some diamonds I'm looking at - any thoughts - good or bad on these? Any other ones you see that might be better in the same price range?

JA does provide ASETs (3 per email address). I’m not certain about BN, but I can’t imagine they wouldn’t TRY to acquiesce to your request.
For future reference, use this chart as a guide to weed out the weak. ;)2

Are you interested in suggestions, if it is decided that your posted Ovals could be better?

Absolutely! The more advice the better! She is definitely set on the setting attached (see next post). Not sure if the setting matters too much for the diamond, but thought I would share! Her preferences for the oval diamond are: "sparkle and colorless" more than carat size. Though with a solitaire setting, I'd like to get close to 2 ct so it doesn't look too small in the solitaire setting!

I don’t know if Jonathan has any Ovals near the 2ct mark, but he is designing a brand new oval: Ovals without that bow-tie phenomenon. They are absolutely gorgeous. You must check out August Vintage on Instagram!! Absolutely breath-taking.
Note: the chart I posted above is sketchy; there are better ASETS out there....I’ll keep an eye out for a better reference....
