I’m helping my nephew with an engagement ring for his future fiancé, but have seem to hit a brick wall…
She wants a very simple solitaire in 14K rose gold and platinum basket/prongs for her oval diamond. All I can seem to find are the generic peg head presentation settings or ones where the shank is so thin (think 1.5-1.7 mm) that it won’t be durable at all. He would like to keep his budget for the setting around $600-700.
Is it even possible to get a strong, elegant solitaire for that price point?? I’ve looked at all the popular PS vendors (including Stuller and Adwar), but can’t seem to find anything. I also got a quote from DK, but it was almost $350-400 more than he wanted to spend…
The diamond he likes is from B2C, so if anyone could speak to the quality of their settings, it would be much appreciated.
Here is the photo she shared. I’d like to find something similar with a lovely basket. 1.8-2.2 mm full or half round/comfort shank preferred.
